SHOULD I GET MY MONEY BACK? JUNK PRAIRIE 650
thanks for all your help, i joined up on here to get advice on what i bought or was planing to buy, to see peoples opinions that have owned or do own certain machines. i just wanted some advice, not criticism and i'm going to make myself look like a somebody by making you look like s**t kind of person like that dingle berrie dangerous likes to do. i don't know a great deal about four wheelers and never claimed to but i have had motorcycles and atcs in years past, i can rebuild a an upper end (don't want to go into a crackase) i was a machinist for years and made parts for company's like JPL and worked on projects for white sands. you would think someone would offer help to someone getting into a new sport, but i guess dangerous is to good for that. just remember HE WHO DIES WITH THE MOST TOYS IS DEAD, thats all. my family means more to me then toy oyur toy's. wanna buy a prairie 650 for $5000 dangerous? one more toy for you, one more laugh for me. no wonder inbreeding is illegal. bye for now

Don't forget, if you buy a new machine, you will need to get it back to the dealer for it's first service. You better get the dealer to work their pick-up and delivery costs into the deal so you don't get any more suprises. I get the feeling that you don't like surprises. Later, nova scotia **** (which I sort of resent even when the statement is coming from a kid, as my father served in WW2).

Don't spray WD 40 into the keyhole. It doesn't take severe temps to freeze WD 40, and in your climate, it will make things worse. The only thing that you'd want to lube the keyhole with is some graphite, available at hardware stores.
If you want my opinion, it sounds like the quad will be a never ending problem for you. If it's obvious that a front drive axle has already been replaced, the quad might have been damaged in a wreck. The frame might be tweaked, and you can't tell.
I would tell the dealership that you bought the quad with good intentions, and in good faith, but you don't think that you are up to the challenges of the maintenance involved with a used quad, and if they would give you a full purchase price credit towards a new quad, they still have a loyal customer.

There is nothing funny about it. You made an offer and in turn I laid the ground rules for acceptance of said offer. It's just good business practice with any purchase especially of used items with a known fault. Had you made a deal closer to my offer to you than what you did with a local dealer you would have no problems right now. I seldom ever buy anything used as new is cheaper. Even if you borrow money to make a purchase, you'll know what your total expense is each month. Buying used is a crap shoot as to what your expenses will be. You can win in a crap shoot but just like in Vegas the odds are against you unless you take precautions. i.e my above counter offer. It's always easier to prepare first than to repair later.

Every quad will have SOMETHING go skunky, but this one sounds like a "story"quad. The more people that repair or replace things on a machine, the more likely something else will fail. It sounds like the dealer has been very reasonable. I haven't seen this quad, but from what you've said hondaorac, i'd dump it.
