V-Force 700 a good beginner quad?
#1
Hi, I was just wondering if the V-Force was a good beginner quad with it being an auto. It's not for me it's for my girlfriend. What kind of power does this thing have, and how fast is it? Any problem points like eating belts or anything like that? What about mod potential? I doubt it but, are there any plans on making the 700 twin with a manual tranny?
Thanks for the help.

if she has had no eperience with a quad I probably would not recommend it. It has a lot of torque and top speed is around the 73-75 mph mark. If you are looking for more of a beginer quad try the polairs trailblazer 250. it is also an automatic...the belts are not an issue at all for either of these...and if she wants more power there are mods available for the 250 to make it faster.

There is no way that she is getting a Polaris. She rides my 400 all the time and does fine, just has trouble with the clutching. Top speed is in the 70's?? I didn't think that they were that fast. Are they comparable to a stock Z400 in acceleration and top speed? That's what I was hoping for.
Thanks

I was amazed at the acceleration and torque of my V Force the first time I rode it. It can stand on the back wheels effortlessly. I would be extremely cautious about letting a "beginner" loose on it.
A Z400 isn't even in the same ballpark as far as power/speed/torque are concerned.

She would love the V and if she can handle a 400 she can handle the 700. It's torquey and powerful, but not ridiculously so and the stock clutch spring is not very stiff so riding it is pretty easy... it will wheelie but it's not like it will buck you off with a little throttle. Like anything you have to take it easy at first. Does she ride aggressively? The V is heavy and not something you want to be underneath.
I think the V is great for a beginning rider, as long as the beginning rider is responsible and she really should take a training class. Some lessons you do not want to learn the hard way on a 500lb quad... like not shifting weight into a turn and not letting off the throttle while sliding.
The V can haul *** or it can cruise around easy just like the other big bores (DS and Raptor).
Nerf bars are a must have... those 22" holeshots will suck you under quick.

I don't want her to get a Polaris Trailblazer 250 cause they are really, really weak. I want her to get something that she can grow into with experience and something I can hop on and have fun. As for the Scrambler 500 they are fun but she doesn't like them and she really hates the single lever braking. The local Polaris dealership is also a joke, and for $500 more she could get a V-Force.
Also, I don't have a Z400, I have a 400ex.
So what kind of power are we talking about here??
I was told by the owner of the local dealership that a KFX400 would eat a KFX700 V-Force and, the Z400 is the same thing as a KFX400.
As for power she can handle my EX everywhere just not going up hills. My EX will easily pull the front end up as high as I want it to in 5th gear.
So let me rephrase the thread, V-Force good quad for an intermediate rider that has trouble clutching??
Thanks flashturbo, you answered exactely what I was looking for. She tries to ride aggresively but I think the V-Force would only be taken to 80% of it's limits. Definately have to get nerf bars.

NO, at least I dont think so.
The bike is a handful if it isnt respected.
A newbie should start out on something smaller and tamer,,,,and prove their ability to keep themselves alive on a quad, before they deserve a MONSTER like a V force.
Id hate to see her try and take it up a steep hill for the 1st time.
Just my opinion.
It is similar in speed to the 400,,,,,but way heavier and a good bit larger.

i can beat my bros 440 ex by 3-4 quads and i weigh 75 more lbs. people dont give the v enough respect. thats with dual pipes and a different clutch spring about 600.00 in mods compared to the thousands he has dumped into the 400 ex
