Clutch Spring Help
#1
I have seen KISSOFDEATHS clutch spring stats and was wondering if I could put a P700 primary spring in my P650? I am going to get the EPI black for the secondary and want to do both at once, or should I just do the secondary and scrap the primary for now? Also, does any one know what Polaris sping would be close to the EPI black spring and the EPI brite green? I have a Polaris dealer in town and he has some springs in stock. Any help would be great!

Thanks for all the help, glad I asked. Isn't there anyone that can answer or help a new guy out here? One guy puts up a post and a hundred dudes reply. What gives? Just wanna know if the P700 spring will work in the P650.

Polaris Green is 40/135, epi bg is 22/121.
kawi 650 is o/105, kawi 700 is 0/136
not sure what you want out of your spring except power. if you get the epi brite green it's gonna give you more stall than stock 650 spring (22 versus 0 )and a little more shiftout(121 vesus 105)
the stock 700 would give you more shiftout than stock 650 (136 versus 105) , but if you get some shims from your dealer(polaris) you can change all this stall and shiftout to more of each. the shim stiffens the springs and raises the stall up along with the shiftout. so with shims you actually have a couple combinations with one spring(primary).
so i think i would start with the 700 stock spring and then see how it runs with adding shims your shift out would start with 136 compared with 105 which is a pretty good jump over stock. and the stall before the bike actually moves would be 0 same as stock so by adding shims would make the stall rise to maybe20-30(you can only have 3 shims in at once). that being said 20-30 is the brite green stall. also don't forget the stock spring would change with shims 0/105 so adding shims might get it to 0 +20-30 equals the stall on the brite green and 20-30 on the stock 105 equals about 125-135 which is very close to the epi brite green. hope this helps. peace

yes the 700 spring will work in the 650... The stock 650 & 700 springs both have "0" stall ... for normal riding this is probably best... IMO, if your stall is high enough that you can't back up with out the reverse override, then it is too tall for normal riding...I think the closest Polaris spring, to the V Force spring is the Polaris white... I just recieved my Polaris yellow ( for my highly modified Prairie ), but haven't had the chance to try it out yet...
Look here for more spring info...

FYI... I think the EPI Black is only a secondary clutch spring... I don't know what the equivilent spring from Polaris would be...

Noxam,
not sure what you are looking to do, or what kind of riding you do, but a good guy to talk to is Dale @ Dalton Industries,
He sells springs for Kawa and Polaris, he has a blue that is similiar to the stock with a little more stall.
As far as a spring for the secondary he has a p/pl, that will give you a little more grip and better back shifting, than the black.,
Kevin has a great site for comparision if you know what you are looking for, as newbeatle has said.
The Polaris clutches have a different type of helix, so a spring that might work great for them, might act differently for Kawasaki.
Good luck
