Default Taking out Dynojet kit

Finally rode the V today, seemed lean in the middle and on top. Running Muzzy, K & N, O.W. and D.G. snorkle. Sea level-2000 ft. Had the rec. D.J. jetting in for all but the snorkle. I decided not to even mess with the D.J. kit. I'm going to shim the stock needles .020 and start with 145-148. I have also heard of good results with 155-160 and no shims. How I ended up with D.J. was Muzzy sent it with the pipe (for 85 bucks ) BUMMER I thought they were just sending jets.

I have similar mods on my V-Force, with the only difference being that I run no snorkel at all instead of the DJ snorkel, and I have a 4-Stroke Tech CDI. With my Dynojet kit I have the air screws 2 3/4 turns out, the needles are in the fifth slot, and I have 126/130 main jets. My V-Force runs PERFECT for me, at 6000 ft. altitude.

For a piped V-Force Dynojet recommends 122/124 main jets and needles in the 4th slot for my altitude, but Dynojets recommendations are just that, RECOMMENDATIONS! You have to dial it in yourself to get the jetting spot on, and the V-Force is very sensitive to jetting, with just one jet size off making the difference between "just not impressed at all", and "GREAT". If you are not willing to do the tuning yourself, then don't blame Dynojet for your ATV not running correctly. But after having said all that, ... If I am running the Dynojet kit with my needles on the richest setting at 6000 ft altitude, and you have the exact same mods as me, then you very well may not be able to acheive rich enough mid-range jetting at sea level if you are using the same needles.

I understand the trial and error nature of jetting, but after reading so many threads on poor D.J. performance -and easier(or more accurate) Keihin jetting, I'm going to switch back. I never wanted the D.J. kit anyway, put it in because Muzzy sent it, now they seem to be rec. .020- 145-148!!! I will be calling them today about a refund. When I called D.J. awhile back the dude on the phone was kind of a smarta$$ too....

I just put on Dyno jets. The shop had nothing else. I just got back from Glamis. I ran 124 128 and this is slightly lean at 500'. I live at 6000' so I will see how it does up here. It will be richer at higher elev.

Talked to Dave at Muzzy today- He maintains D.J. is the way to go, says raising stock needles .020 won't be as accurate as finely tapered D.J. needles. He suggests taking one shim off the top of each needle and put it under the clip. (both needles now have two shims on top of clips) He says that will richen the mid circuit by 10% , and leave the mains alone for now. Don't know if I should try it or just s.can and go .020-145-148.....? Also, will D.J. jets flow as much fuel at WOT as Keihin????

I think that the increased taper on the Dynojet needles start to add in more fuel quicker than the stock needles do, and at least for my V-Force that really helped out. I like the idea of adding the shim under the needle clip for low altitude applications. And Dynojet mains will flow every bit as much as Keihn mains, if you put in the correspondingly correct size. I agree with HappywithVForce that the 124/128 main jets he had at '500 elevations would be little too lean, because I run 126/130 main jets at '4000 to '6000 elevations.

I was told that the .20 shims and 145f/148r jets is what they used when they dynoed the muzzy pipe.I did this set-up in mine and it runs awsome.I am at sea-level,also with high humidity. Will I know one thing,is that the Muzzy runs alot better than the Procircuits ever did and takes better to jetting changes.

Washington State close to water humidity is usually in the 80-85% range, I think.... then Oregon Dunes...
