I just got off the phone with a guy about 40 minutes away from me that has a 2002 Kawasaki Prairie 650. He said it has almost 800 miles on it and he recently had the carbs adjusted. He said you had to do that every so many miles, although I've never heard that before. He said $5000, but he said that's slightly negotiable. What would be the lowest I should ask for.

I paid $4700 for my camo 03 w/ only 56 miles on it. But then again I got lucky.
$5000 for starters sounds kinda high. It better be real clean for that.
They were selling them new for $5800 at my dealer in 02.

I was thinking of saying $4500. Should I go lower than that?

That depends if you want a really good deal or a 4 wheeler.

Myself, unless it was extra clean with nice add ons and stock tires (or stock sized tires)with no 28" monster mudders in sight -I'd maybe go as high as $4500. Mostly check out the condition and cleanliness of the quad. Pull the seat and look at the dirt buildup in the nooks and crannies under there. That will let you know where it was ridden (muddy or sandy soil).

When I go used I look for an older owner who bought it to hunt with but no longer hunts or moved to a jeep/mule type vehicle. These sellers usually have cherry quads with LOW miles.
My coworker bought a 2002 2wd Big bear this way with under 35 miles on it. ( owner wanted 4wd)
I bought one this way as mentioned above with less than 56 miles on it. (owner broke- needed $$)
