I found the above mentioned manufacturers supply website and it list the 700 prairie belt to be a smidgen longer than the 650 belt.
So if it's a little longer, where do the shims come into play?
I know they are needed to get the proper deflection set, but are they also used to make up for the extra length of the 700 belt?

And yes, if I sound lost here- this will be first time to mess with the deflection/shims.

 

DAVE... the 700 belt may be a few mm wider & possibly longer... this is taken up with the deflection adjustment on the shims... the longer & wider will give you the potential for more top end... the 700 Force, & 700 Prairie belts are the same, & better materials were used than in the 650 belts...

 

Since it's a dayco belt- wouldn't they used the same components in making them?
And if the only gain w/the 700 belt is top speed I'll pass. This thing goes faster than I need to be going already!

 

I just put in an order for a HP2018 for my 650 , from my local autoparts store. 46$ . Not bad at all.
