One More Try Brute Owners!!!!!!!!
I have asked this before, but did not get any responses, I'll try again.
1.) What are the spare set of wires with plugs for that come off the taillight wiring harness?
2.) Also, there is a set of wires extending from around the gas tank that does not go to anything??????
3. There are two wires with plugs on them up by the front headlights, what for?????
All of these wires have factory applied ends, but do not have any mating plugs. Does anyone know what they are for, and should they be capped before my BF ends up under some amount of water?
I also had a question about the placement of a wiring harness on the right side of the engine. Wires tucked right next to the cylinder, won't they melt? Should they be moved?
Any help would be appreciated.

i have a 650 and it has these plugs you are talking about, the one in the back is an aux 12v supply, i use it to run my 30gal chemical sprayer, you could run all sorts of misc. equipment with it, and the ones up front by the headlites are i believe a switched set of 12v plugs that correspond to your headlite switch, so if you put on a front bumper w/ lites you could plug in the aux lites from the bumper and they would come on with your headlites, i may be wrong on the fronts but the back i'm sure cause i use it, take a voltmeter to the fronts, put it on dc and read across the plug if nothing turn on your headlites and see if it reads 12v dc, hope this helps.... brody p.

brodykelly - thanks, the dealer said they are accesory plugs, but could not offer anything further. I asked if they were hot all the time, and should they be protected against water or submersion??? He had no answer. Are they hot all the time, or controlled by some other swithch?

the rear one is hot all the time, the front ones i believe are switched with lite switch[test with meter to be sure] i don't have any aux lites up front yet, i'd like to buy one of those big spot lites for tracking deer blood after dark and when i do i'll use one of the aux plugs up front for the pwr, or you could power hand warmers, car cooler[beer], anything that needs 12v dc, gameboy, cell phone, port dvd, this all would be handy when camping with kids, just some ideas, good luck brody p

I wondered the same thing many times over about my '98 P400. when I got the factory SHOP manual for it, all became much more clear. There are many possible accessories that can be added plus I think a few were for possible features they weren't sure if they'd be putting on the bike.
Get the manual when it comes out if it hasn't already. They are worth the money.
