Default 2004 kvf700 sputters and won' gain power

My 2004 kvf 700 starts and idles good. As soon as you get to about 30km. the motor won't gain any more power and starts to break up.The rear cylinder is the one that breaks up if i just run one at a time. Both cylinders have good compression, spark and fuel.I have checked every thing i can think of but can't figure it out .HELP!

Sounds like you are in limp mode and switch needs reset/checked. Procedures in Manual. Have you had your belt cover off lately with your ignition key on?

Is there fuel in the air filter box? Are all the CDI plug in connections in tight?

Just FYI

P700 does have a limp mode. Mine was doing the same thing about 2 weeks ago. I tried several times to reset the belt light but to no avail. Paid my dealer $18some dollars to tell me that the machine was in limp mode because the belt switch needed to be reset.

Oh and I did turn the key on with the CVT cover off.

Live and learn

There are only 86 hours on 700. I have reset the belt switch 3 times but does not help. It has fresh fuel yesterday new spark plugs.Tried new coils a new igniter a new tip over sensor checked carbs and set them up with a mercury carb stick. Both cyls run. There are no mods done completely stock. All connections are good. What is limp mode.Is that when belt switch needs to have its memory cleared.Because i have done that.

When you paid some $18 to your dealer did it fix the problem? And if so why could he reset it and when you tried it wouldn't work. These 700's have too many electronic gadgets on them!

Yes it did fix the problem. I don't know what I was doing wrong , but I tried the reset procedure offered by Mr Nyroc , but it did not work. Although I am pretty sure it was something I must have been doing wrong.
