Default Synthetic Oil

Marylandatv,

I have great success running extra virgin olive oil… I prefer Bertolli 30W, but my friend swears by the Shop Rite brand. My Chinese friend runs peanut oil in his Kawi all day long without any problems. One thing we all agree on is to stay away from soy oil… its very cheap, but it gets dirty quick and dose not seem to have the viscosity of other oils.

Well, I used Crisco for a while but found it could cause shrinkage in the interior of the Engine, and could lead to blow by. Being it is shortning!~rotflmao Ive heard nothing but good things about the Bertolli's Line of Products and I maybe switching over? ~coop

I would highly recommend Royal Purple it has a 400% stronger film strenght then any other synthetic oil on the market. About two weeks ago there was a royal Purple representive at my work he was demostrating the film strenght against the leading brands of synthetic oil. On a bearing that was running against a race. Mobil 1 locked up and was smoking at 6 lbs of pressure leaving a huge scare in the bearing. There is a amsoil dealer that works in my shop that has been trying to get me to change from RP to amsoil and he challenged the guy to a test against amsoil 10w30. The amsoil locked up and smoked at 10 lbs of pressure leaving a huge scare the same size as the Mobil 1. Royal Purple 10w30 with 10lbs of pressure and the guy pushing on the bearing adding more weight would not lock-up leaving a almost pollished spot on the bearing. With that done then the guy poured water on it while it was going to see if it would wash off the oil it still would not lock-up with all that weight on it,it did not even make the mark bigger. So if you ever flood out your bike or blow a head gasket you would not wash the oil off of the moving parts of the engine. Amsoil makes the best filter on the market, but Royal Purple is by far the best protection for your engine I would recommend running RP 10w30 with amsoil filters on everything.

When I first got my Mojave I was running Motul Syn 10w-40. It still wore out and I rebuilt it. I switched to Amsoil 10w40 motorcycle oil. It wore out again but this time the intake cam went flat too.

I've rebuilt it again and am gonna try dino "car" oil to see how it does. It has Havoline 10w-40 in it right now. I'm fed up with tearing into this motor every year!

BTW I changed the oil every 20 hours at the most
