how often and with what do I chance the oil in my tranny. I have a 2004 p700.

Well your tranny doesn't use fluid. Your front and rear end do. It depends on how much you ride but I'd change those at lease once a year but it depends on if you are in water and mud allot you may want to change them more often to make sure no water is in them or stays in them. I would bet the owners manual tell you how often.

The font differential takes 10w-40 and the rear uses mobil 424 or you can use other options but off the top of my head i'm not sure what they are but it you search you'll find it. I just get the kawasaki fluid as I can get it at the stealer and the other options usually come in larger quantities that i'd have to store...

I realize that it is not an auto tranny. but the gears in there must have some kind of lubricant. I thought I read somewhere on this forum about it, no able to find it in a seach.

 

your trans is lubed by the eng oil. I change mine every 50 hours with 10w40 castrol.

When you Pop your CVT cover you'll see its a Dry Automatic Clutch with Primary Clutch (towards front of bike) an Secondary Clutch (rear of bike). Internal gears inside your engine case are lubed by your engine oil. The belt rides up and down the pulleys while underway to give you the correct gear ratio. Secondary and Primary springs control Belt tension & Clutch RPM engagement.

Change your engine oil at recomended intervals, when it gets dirty, or when you get water or gas in it. Keeping your gas petcock in the off position when parked or during transport is recommended.

Keeping your belt in proper deflection (Changing shims in Secondary Pulley) & clutch clean will lengten belt life, give best performance, lengthen clutch life.

Never turn you key on with the CVT cover removed.
