Default Problem with my 1997 Lakota

OK everyone need help big time here. My Lakota isnt running right...killed battery trying to start. Altho just the other day it would start upon hitting the start button..aalmost perfect. The few times i did get it to start it would spit and sputter...only way it would idle is with choke cranked. once i let off it would spit sputter back fire and quit. I thought maybe the temperature change might have effected it but i fooled with the **** on the bottom of carb and didnt have much luck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

One more thing to add ... i noticed every once and a while it would spit gas from the hose that connects the carb to the head. Almost like its getting too much gas.

the **** on the bottome is the idle ajustment. Take your carb off and clean it out. With the choke on did you let it warm up? My lakota is hard to start with the temperature change and i have to let it run on choke for quite a while tell it wants to idle on its own.

Yea i let it warm up for a good while....it was the only way i could keep it runnin with the choke on that is...Just felt real sluggish....but i feel i did let it warm up enough because i could tell a noticeable difference in the motor running. I think you may be right tho New Duck it would only make since to be a dirty carb problem...hopefully thats all it is. Kinda got on my bad nerve as i just got my chain and front sprocket in today and worked all afternoon after work to put those on and now this.. Im beginning to wonder if ill get to ride it lol

Yea thanks guys....finally got her up and running...i got home this evening and imediately took the carb off (after the rear fender front fender seat and gas tank ..lol) and found that the main jet was ok smaller jet was ok but however there was one jet up in there that was completely clogged up. I couldnt even force a needle thru the gobb. Finally took a small drill bit and hand drilled it out. Also after a lil more inspection i found that the choke threads were stripped where it enters the carb and also that i wasnt getting very good fire due to the plug cap. However tho i did manage to get all back together and take a nice little test run before dark. Thanks guys...i hope to help you some day.
