Apocolyptic Pairie 700 Problem
#1
Today I bought a new '05 Prairie 700. I unloaded it and drove it around the neighborhood and suddenly it lost almost all power and a HUGE white cloud shot out of the exhaust. The air box was making a weird noise so I opened it up and there seemed to be oil or oil and gas in the air box. Now it hardly runs.
WTF????
I checked the coolant and the oil levels, they seemed to be fine. What could it be?

Don't panic. Sounds Like your dealership OVERFILLED your oil. Oil down the carbs will cause your symptons.
Pretty common if dealers don't pay attention to detail. Since its Brand Spankin New with WARRANTY, take it back so they will give you a new air filter or at least clean it and a new set of plugs & drain your oil level to a little above half full. Also have them check all your engine mount bolts, other fluid levels, and general nuts and bolts for tightness.
If you overfill it in the future, start her up, spray some carb clean down each your carbs thil she revs without hiccup, clean & reoil your air filter, put in a fresh set of plugs & let her rippppppppppppppp!. Also don't leave your gas on after riding or during transport.

I just realized that I jacked up the spelling of Prairie in the subject header. Sorry about that, I not retarded, I promise. LOL
I was going to get a Grizzly but today I went on a test drive spree for over six hours including drive time. I drove the following quads:
1. SP 500 H.O.
2. SP 600
3. SP 700
4. SP 700 EFI
5. SP 800 EFI
6. Grizzly
7. BF750
8. Prairie 700
The Grizzly, in my OPINION, was underpowered and tippy to me. At the dealership where I test drove the Grizz, I drove a SP 700 EFI back to back with it. The SP 700 EFI felt much stronger and much more stable. They didn't have any other SP's so I went to another dealer.
At the next dealer, I drove all the SP's listed above. The two that stood out were the SP600 and the SP800 EFI. They wanted $6,000 otd for the SP600 and $8,300 otd for the camo SP800 EFI. The SP600 felt just as strong, maybe stronger down low than the SP700 or SP700 EFI. The SP800 EFI was by far the strongest but it was making weird noises. I decided that I would choose between the two. I went back and forth seemingly forever. I finally decided that I didn't want either one of them and went next door and drive the Kawi's. Ultimately the SP600 was too slow for my taste and the SP800 EFI was too expensive for what you get and the noise issue bothered me.
The BF750 is the fastest quad I've ever driven. I've owned one before but I wanted to make sure I was making the right decision so I drove one again. I hate the suspension in those things. It's like a slightly improved Grizz. I feel the best suspended IRS quad is the SP's. However, I heard that the Honda's are but I've never even considered a Honda, because of how poor the engine performance is reported to be. Next I drove a P700. I've owned one of these before as well and a TP700. It just felt right. The power, control and feel is perfect to me. I bought it for $6,000 otd.

I found that changing plugs out is easier, just individual preference. I don like the hard starting or waiting for plugs to clear up on own.
After your new ones are in take you old ones spray them with brake cleaner & get all the crud off them, let them thoroughly dry, & touch up the electrode & tip with sandpaper. Got you a spare set now.
$6000 for new 700 is an excelent price, where did you buy it?

I bought it at Jones Motorsports in Ardmore. I live in NW OKC so it was about a two hour drive. There is a new P700 available at the House of Kawasaki on NW 10th in Oklahoma City. My price was $6,000 there too. However, I wanted to drive all the Polaris quads so I ended up in Ardmore. After I did that I went next door to the Kawi dealer and told them how much I wanted to pay for the P700 and they agreed so I bought it there.
PM me if you're interested in one and I'll give you details about the one in OKC.

There aren't any more new P700's in OKC or the surrounding areas. I was told that the 06's would arrive in about 60 days. The unit at the House of Kawasaki is the only 05 left.
