I too had 2 P650s, in the rough sections I never got hunged either but I sure did drag my skids plates allot. I also couldn't take the same route as the Grizz660 or I had to drive right over the higher rock so I wouldn't get hunged up. The Grizz would clear these rocks with room to spare. Now that I have my IRS Brute and those extra ground clearance inches, all I can say "it sure is nice".

bfb, sounds like we ride about the same. I always put my tire on the higher rocks, that's the way I was taught also.

I guess it is nice not to have to worry about 'steering' on the trail all the time, but I actually don't mind that, especially when coming into a turn and just letting the bike turn itself, throw rocks, cloud of dust, and just generally misbehave.

Kawiyowee: Yep, the Prairies are a bit easier to powerslide vs the IRS but my refit BF750 does a pretty good job at it, I just have to put a little bit more effort into it.
In the tighter and slower trails along with big rocks all over the place, the IRS does comes into play. Anymore I do more of this than riding fast but when the trail opens up, I still dig the way that VTwin sounds with the thumb throttle nailed.

bfb750bf,

I have a similar wheel set up; ITP type 7 rims, but I went with 25" Bighorn radial tires. I don't do much mudding so bigger tires didn't make a lot of sense to me. The Bighorns are great rock and trail tires. I cut a sidewall on my stock tires and had to ride 20 miles on 3 tires last summer on the Paiute trail in Southern Utah. The BF750 really works better with good tires.
