Hi. I have a 2003 Kawasaki KFX400. It will not shift up from 3rd gear into 4th gear, or down from 5th. When you try to shift into 4th gear, it just goes into neutral. But when you try to shift either up or down from the 4th gear position (which is just neutral) it goes into 3rd, or 5th, depending if u shift up or down.

Also, the bike has a terrible metal on metal click coming from inside the engine when running.

Does this sound like a clutch problem? Or worse?

you say i broke 4th. okay, are you saying i broke the 4th gear plate inside the clutch basket?

 

nope eather a shift fork or the gear you will need to split the cases in otuer words its got to come completly apart
