BF vs. Bomb & Pol. 760?
Took a test ride today on the Bomb, side by side with the Polaris 800 and the AC V2. I'll have to say the Bomb's Rotax is incredible, it sounds great and power is MUCH more than the Polaris. Fantastic throttle response.
But that's all I can say good about the Bomb. Rough, pitchy ride; oversteer, and the rear has a tendency to dig in and tip the inside rear wheel off the ground in even moderate turns. I found the handling to be a real disappointment and a deal breaker for me.
In this trio the Sportsman was the one to beat.
The AC V2 handled better than the Bomb, contrary to my expectations. But it was the weakest of this group.
Now I've got to find a dealer with a good place to test ride the BF.

if you get to test drive Kawis, try to do a spin on the brute 650i along with the 750. at least for a report here. i have the 650i, but i haven't ridden the 750, so i can't compare. the guys that have say the 650i is very close to the 750 in power with improved handling. now the handling on mine was sorta scary until the Bighorns came along, but power is good

Monty- I heard that about the 650 too.
They say that the the 650i is lighter so it handles better, but in the specs it is actually heavier. I read 604 for the 750i and 606 for the 650i straight from www.kawasaki.com.
The 650i has 9.9/1 (vs 8.8/1) compression which helps make up the difference in size. Do you have to run high octane in it?
In the end, the dealer I was working with was selling those two machines for a $200 price difference so I got the 750i.

Throw out a question like that and you see what happens.
There are really only three things to consider.
The first is your budget. If you have one, the BF is the way to go. They sell for about $2,000 less than the Bomb or the Pol.
The second is the fwd system. This is a biggy because each company uses very different systems. The Bomb uses visco-lok. The shortfall of this system is that the front axles lock and unlock as the front tires change speed. For example, you lose traction, it locks, you slow down, it unlocks, you add power, it locks again. This system has some peculiar characteristics that Bomb doesn't want you to know about. It makes clanking noises as it locks and unlocks, it can cause unusual driving characteristics as power shifts from one to two front tires, and the system has not endured the test of time. The Polaris system has a locker in the transmission. When the front tires are not moving at the same speed as the rear tires, the system sends power to the front axles. The front axle locks automatically. The problem with this system is that you never really have it in fwd. When you shift it into fwd, you are really just allowing it to use fwd when it detects the need. The Kawi is the only manufacturer of the three that has a true locking front axle. It is controlled by a lever on the handlebars and is variable. If you want to be in control, the Kawi system is the best. If you want the machine to be in control, look at the others.
The Kawi system is shift on the fly. Some people think that means you can wait until you are stuck, have the rear tires spinning at 30 mph and throw it into fwd. The shock of doing this will break the front diff. I shift mine into fwd while moving all of the time and it works great, no clanks, no grinding, etc. All of the tires need to be moving at the same speed so that there is no shock to the drive train. Makes sense, right...
Third, how important is EFI to you? Kawi doesn't have it. The others do.
Now add on the the personal stuff. I think Pols are butt ugly. I think the Bombs are over priced.
I was able to buy a BF in silver with 27" xtr's on 14" ITP c7's, the winch (installed) and the 4 year extended warranty for under $8,000 OTD. To that I have added the VDI copperhead (incredible) for $350.
For the money, I don't think you can beat the BF750i.
If you are looking at a KFX 700 I would look at what you are getting for your money. Resale on the BF is going to be much better. Unless you live near Glamis or some other sport bike magnet, the KFX is going to be a tank to sell used.

I would take a look at the King if you dont want the fastest thing out It will run with a 800 polaris in a drag race and it handles better than all the quads in the big bore class, its not as soft as the polaris or the outty but you can hit a long sweeper wide open without any worries about 3 wheeling or worse My King is very fast it will out run my Brute (I just sold feb 14) In a drag race the brute pulls of the line first and gets about a 1 1/2 bike lead and then the King after about 10-15 mph will start to catch and pass the Brute by 1 bike before it hits the rev limiter at 72 mph But they say my King is a freak just a little faster than most But when you put the dyna cdi in the brute it realy wakes up I could get my brute up to 67 mph with cdi and 26 inch mud lites that real good for having those tires on it and as far as the polaris im just not a fan of them Now the Outty is realy cool but handles ok

In this trio the Sportsman was the one to beat.
The AC V2 handled better than the Bomb, contrary to my expectations. But it was the weakest of this group.
Now I've got to find a dealer with a good place to test ride the BF.

Luv the P700 Prairies----luv the Outy a little more.
ductape-----I think you might want to ride a different Outy. Did you ride the XT or the standard outy? Maybe set the springs a little tighter with the spanner and try it again. I haven't seen or felt any of the handling problems you listed.

Poindexter: according to the manual, 87 octane is reccomended, and there is a warning to use 91 octane if it starts to "ping", but i just use premium anyway. and yes the 650i is heavier by two pounds. and i'd also have to agree, for the $200 price diff, it would be hard to pass up the 750.

Take it from me because i had a brute force but made the decision to go to the kfx 700, mainly because of the riding i usually do in my area. I live in a small rural town so we get to drive our atv's all over the place in town and on the highways, (cops havent gotten to strict yet but they are starting to). Half of the people i ride with have sport atv's and the other half have 4WD. And after a year and can pretty much ride right with either group, so my recommendation is to go with the KFX 700, unless you really like to go mud bogging.
