Default Clutch springs

I know that they have been beaten to death, but I want to get the right ones the first time. My type of riding is trail riding, not very technical, I love wheelies, and always could use more low end power. Not to concerned about top end as it takes to long to get there anyway. I am considering the Dalton Blue primary and Dalton Plain/Purple secondary. Kissofdeath seemed to like this setup. I have heard about the EPI Red being a good drag spring. Why is it a good drag and not good all around? Thanks guys and look forward to hearing back from ya'll.

The EPI Red primary is considered a high stall spring meaning that it takes a higher RPM for the clutch to engage, and because of the delay it is an abrupt engagement. And the high RPMs and abrupt engagement put power to the ground fast! This is one reason it is considered a drag racing spring. Believe me you do not want an abrupt engagement on technical terrain.

On the other end of the spectrum you have the EPI Pink. It is a low stall spring meaning that it will engage early as you apply throttle and will be much like your stock spring as far as stall goes. There are of course in between springs like the Dalton Blue and the EPI Maroon that have a higher than normal stall and still maintain driveability in technical terrain.

I just installed the EPI Gold this weekend on my V-Force. It has a higher stall and a little higher shiftout. It has improved the quad very much. It is also still trail rideable. 17.00 well spent!
