clutch springs-EPI
#1
I have been reading all of the posts about the p650 belt maintenance. I just got my EPI catalog and noticed that the "black spring" is secondary a clutch spring (number kss3). Is this the one I should use? I already ordered my service manual, and I plan on ordering this spring asap. Also, should I start using synthetics after 10 hours, or should I wait longer before I use them (ie. v-twin synthetic)
Thank you

pc--- Yep the black spring is it(goes in the driven pulley). I would wait until I got @20 hr. on it, before replacing the spring ,and doing the belt adjustment. Just my opinion, though. Your belt isn't "squawking" on take off, is it? If it is, it is in need of adj. NOW.
I use Castrol Syntec in mine. I waited until I was sure the engine was broken in, before changing over, from petroleum based oil.

NovaKaw650, where did you get your EPI clutch spring from? Everyone I called in Nova Scotia couldn't get it. One dealer told me it was on order then I found out they couldn't get it. If you got it from EPI how much was it by the time it got to Nova Scotia?

Muddseeker it will run around $50 Canadian by the time it hits your door and is still cheaper than your dealer. It took 5 days for it to arrive at my door go to their website www.erlandsonperformance.com when you order the spring ask them to send you a catalogue too. You might want to order a pully puller for the front shives at the same time. Have fun.

muddseeker--- I ordered mine by phone from Erlandson Performance. They have a site. You can order online. Mine cost $25.00 US+ $5.00 shipping. Penland Bros. Racing has 'em too.

Mudseeker- I got mine directly from EPI, but had it shipped to my sister's place in the US and I picked it up while on vacation. As Alltoys said, it should cost you double the sticker price by the time you get it shipped to NS. For other accessories I use Rocky Mountain ATV. Excellent prices and very good stock levels.
