I think I stated that on long down hills engine braking was a good Idea but I also know that the brakes can be modulated to a great deal of effect that was my point of bringing up the Polaris not as a comparison ( I can not stant Polaris sorry if that offends some). I was not trying to direct a statment towards anyone and said if it did not apply then disregard.
Again some quads are not for some people, to me if that is the case and you bought something wrong do not blame the quad I see a lot of folks bashing a quad they have never riden or bashing one b/c it is not their brand and to me when giving info on a $7000 purchase people should be armed with the best possible info not speculation. I have riden the Rincon though I do not own one and it does in fact offer engine braking I do not think it is as strong as the Rubicon or P650 but there is some.
I will never intentionaly bash or slam an individual if I come off that way I do appolagise.

Well people can say what they want. I know for a fact that the Rincon does not have any engine braking 3mph or below. I have rode one down hills. Also I wasnt bashing the Rincon just stating that it didnt have enough engine braking for me.

Dash - you're right on when you say engine braking is critical for those of us who ride steep mountain trails - especially with loaded racks and towing a trailer (ie hunting, camping). Daimon is right about the Polaris not having any engine braking whatsoever unless you keep the throttle up a bit to keep the belt engaged. Even then it is next to useless because the weight goes to the front and the back end breaks loose. Daimon, if you haven't heard anyone complaining, hear me now - IT SUCKS BIG TIME! Bring extra shorts if you go riding in the mountains without engine braking, because it will scare the crap out of you!
Having said all that, I won't go so far as to say the Rincon is a bad machine - for some people. It is just not suited to my type of riding, so I won't be buying one. If it suits you, then that's great. As for me, I'm looking to get rid of my Polaris and would have to think awfully hard about buying another auto. I'd really like the P650 if they'd just make a manual version. Kawi, are you listening?

I'll be nice about the P650 even though mine wount start now I do not know what it is but it seams to eat plugs??? It is a great bike and the power is awsome.
I was not really trying to defend the Rincon although I think it would be ok for me I want an updated Wolvirine of some sort don't care who makes it keep it light add 2 wheel drive selection and leave off the racks. I have enough ATV's for work around here. I just see a lot of comments around that have no merit I know what you are saying and agree you should look else where. That is my point though good intel without bashing will help you in your future desions.

I am not trying to cause any bad feelings here and think that the Rincon is a good quad for some people but at the Utah atv Jamboree I was talking with a guy completely dressed in Honda motocross gear and he was bragging that there are no sport/utility quads that would out run his Rincon. Well my wife had her bone stock Prairie 650 except for our snorkel and Nyrocs exhaust mod there, I told this guy I would be willing to drag race him on her quad. He showed up at our Motel room but he said his Son would ride his Rincon which was fine with me but I was about 100lbs heavier than him and the air filter on the Prairie was filthy from three days of riding, but we lined up anyway. The owner of the Rincon started us and the Honda pulled ahead by about a tire length, I then pulled ahead and finished the short race about 30 feet ahead. The Rincon owner started yelling I was running race gas and had installed race cams which just was not true. Next my friend on his Grizzly 660 with big mud tires on it raced the Rincon, the Honda beat him until the very end of the race and he caught him for a tie.

A prairie eating plugs = sticking choke cables. There is a recall on these.
