Default Clutch Springs

I noticed reading below about a problem with weak choke springs. I have just recently purchased a 2003 650 and wondered if the problem has been fixed on the 03 models. Also, I was riding with some others on my old 02 model and the muffler was under water while I tried to get out of a hole. I had to let it idle while going from reverse to low and when it went to idle, it would die. Some of the others I was riding with thought that it shouldn't die because the muffler was under water because they say their's doesn't. Is that just an adjustment problem and how should I go about fixing it? Thanks.

Don't know the 03 choke.

The stalling with water up to the tailpipe is reduced when the idle is set lean, and/or idle is set faster.
