P650 Clutching Q's
#11
Fisher Dude:The black spring causes the sheaves(pulley halves) to clamp tighter on the belt. The results are:less belt slipage,so the belt lasts longer, and way better low end "punch".I was a little skeptical before changing it but it does make a huge difference. The night I changed it ,I took my 650 for a little burn up and down the road and thought it to be a little snappier, but thought it was a little hard to tell fer sure cause it was a little slippery out.In the morning on my way to work I looked outside and was amazed to see the road covered in black marks.HEHEHE gues it wasnt so slippery after all, just way more bottom end.

STAKK is definately right. There are 8 of the little devils and you gotta pull the spider to change 'em.I'm not that bothered yet.So I'm gonna leave the primary clutch alone, aside from cleaning it up.I also see that its starting to develope faint grooves in the clutch faces.I have the extended warranty and I'm thinking about going after the dealer to see if he can do anything about these problems.I only have 2200 kms on it and I believe this is premature wear.
Also, if there was no fault with the belts and clutches in these things, why would Kawasaki be testing prototypes?I think I want a set of those.
DirtyDawg, my rear seat is just a plain 'ol kimpex model. They rreally have some doozy's out there now.Mine was $250 Can.I'm not sure where the best place to get them is , but you should be able to find lots online.I've heard alot about Rocky Mountain atv, Cabelas.Ask on the forum and lots 'o fellas will be happy to help you out
Just remember, if you put the rear seat on, BOLT it to the rack. Some seats have straps.Do not use them if you ride with your wife (or anyone else) on the back. The straps do break.
The 650 is an excellent machine for hauling around the 'ol ball and chain. Its stable, handles well and has the power to do it with ease.Just remember to go easy on the throttle on the inclines, and get your but out of the seat to lean over the bars.(Nothing scares me more than those lazy a$$es that nearly flip their quad going up banks and hills cause they wont stand up and lean over the bars)
Wow, I kinda got off topic there, guys. Sorry, just felt that it needed saying.
