Default New V-FORCE

Hey guy's I don't post here much but I do a good amount of reading on all sorts of atv's, tips and tricks. After all the things, positive and negative I've read here I decided to bite the bullet. My wife rides a P650 and I knew I didn't need another 4x4 atv so I laid the cash down on the new green KFX700.

I'll pick it up tomorrow as it was too late tonight and all the shop help had gone home for the day. I don't race but just wanted something that had good usable torque and a fun ride. I really could care less about top speed so when the Raptors come around and want to race I'll just wave them by. I don't ride at 70 whatever miles per hour so I'm okay with that. I really like the look and having both the P650 and the KFX700 the maintainence will be the same, so getting real familiar with one type of powertrain is a plus.

The dealer is giving me a 15 percent cut on all parts and accessories for purchasing the machine. Should I get nerf bars front bumper, skid plates or rear rack. What do you guy's recommend for trail riding. We don't get into a lot of deep mud bogs here in the pacific northwest, so I'm looking for suggestions on how you would setup a trail machine.

Thanks for your help.

Same story here .... I have a P650, and love it. Does all the 4x4 stuff
( push snow, pull trailers, serves as a tow truck out on the trail )

But ... you are going to love the V force also. I rode the Vforce for about
three hours Sat .... then got back on the Prarie . The prarie felt like it
had flat tires !!!!

I am changing the exhaust system and jets next week.

BushWacked...congrats on the new toy! If you have to decide on just one of those accessories, I'd go with:
1. skid plate.
2. rear rack
3. nerf bars
4. bumper

That's if it was me. A good skid plate where I ride is required. Enjoy!

I know this is a dumb question but I will ask anyway. What is the purpose of nerf bars??. I thought it was to keep you feet from hitting the ground if you slip up in landing a jump but the ones I have seen have no mesh directly under the foot pegs. This is where I would think you foot could go forward and blow out the ankle. Can you get mesh to cover the entire opening?? am I on glue???

Thanks!!!!

Thanks guy's,
I am leaning towards the skid plate aswell, I would tend to run into more rocks than frolicking in the mud. Since I don't race I really don't see much need in the nerf bars either, it would seem that they would only get in the way on trails. I am going to need a rear rack to put my extra stuff on and the bumper might help to protect the radiator from tree stumps and the occassional rearend bump getting my wife to move outta the way. So PADZZ, I think I'll follow your lead here.

Vforcer,
what exhaust will you be getting and where is the best place to order most atv accessories? Let us know how well the system works for you. I would change out the exhaust system also but I'll wait to see what the future brings for QUIET systems. I don't want to **** anyone off making a bunch of noise, there just aren't many places to ride anymore and I don't want to add to the problem.

XC800,
all of the nerf bars I have ever seen have web kits included. I know that some of the photos in the mags don't show the webbing but it should be there. Yes they prevent your feet and ankles from getting twisted into pretzels if you slip off the pegs. However they are required in all types of atv racing. I'm thinking they would just get in the way for a trail machine and snag on tree roots and such. I may be wrong though since I have never used them.

Anyone else that may change my mind on the nerfs? Please don't hesitate to give me advice.

I have an HMF system on my P650. I just love the sound it makes

So I called HMF again.... they have a Vforce there for R&D ....
I expect that I will be able to pick up a system next week.

HMF anticipates about 4 HP gain with a slip on muffler system...
and about 7-8 HP with a dual system.

I just might go with the dual system

Vforce,

I just brought the green machine home and it is really sweet, I have yet had the chance to ride it though other than off the trailer.

With your exhaust on your Prairie, where do you think it helped in power? All acroos the rpm range or is it more specific towards low end, mid or top end?

Can anyone tell me the Kawasaki part number for he BLACK spring for the P650? My dealer has no idea what I'm talking about.

You are going to love it

as for the exhaust .... I think it made a change across the
powerband. Of course you can not just change the pipes to get
the extra HP. HP is created by burning fuel.

Increasing air flow through the engine allows you add more fuel
and still keep the air/fuel ratio correct

If you don't add fuel .... it will run to lean, and that's an opppppps.

You know I was moving my wifes P650 around today and I was surprised how powerful even it felt after riding the 700. It won't lift the front end as easily though. Tonight after my wife got home from work she jump[ed on the KFX700 and after going down the driveway a time or two even she lifted the front end up once by just gassing it. The look on her face was WOW

She commented on how easy it is to ride and turn compared to the P650.

Does this mean I need to consider a second KFX700????
