EPI Pro Clutch Kit for P650
#1
Has anyone installed the Pro Clutch Kit from Erlandson Performance that comes with Primary Spring, Secondary Spring and "Belly Buster" weights? I'm curious how much difference all that makes and how complicated the install is.

Nobody has responded yet so I'll tell you what I know.
I installed their kit with the black secondary and a choice of the red or orange primary, no weights were included. I installed the red primary instead of the orange because I found the orange a little harsh (engages at 300 rpm higher). Installing the red spring was a simple procedure, removed the 8 bolts on the primary cover, changed springs, reinstalled cover, done. The secondary spring requires the removal of the driven clutch, not a big deal and a tool for changing this spring can be found on nyroc's site. Changing the weights would be a bigger job as you would have to remove and disassemble the primary clutch to get to the spider.
I really like the feel of the EPI clutch system, the red spring engagement is just bearly noticable and really helps to get those 28's moving. The black secondary seems to hold backshifting a little better but I think the real difference will be in the extended belt life. Sorry I can't give you more input on the weights but I would be interested in what you find out. Let me know. I might note that belt deflection is critical in getting good performance so once you get the clutch back togeather make sure your within specs (preferably on the lower end of the 22mm-27mm range).
Hope this helps.

To change weights.
remove belt
Remove 8 6mm bolts
Remove primary spring
Slide outer clutch face towards engine
Remove weights, use two 10mm sockets.
Removal of the primary clutch from machine is easier, but not necessary.
Est. time, 15 - 20 min.
Hope this helps. Would anyone be interested in adjustable weights.
