Gas Gas Recall ?
#2
Yes there was a recall a couples months back on the first wave of 450's that were sold. GasGas discovered a problem with the base gasket and i think they also was have problems with the clutch slave cylinder. When the problems surfaced GasGas imediately contact the dealers and had them call the buyers to have them bring they're quads back into the shop. Once the owners arrived they were explained on the situation and given 2 options trade for a 300 2-stroke or get remebursted on the 450. Once the decided they were also given the option to trade back or have first choice on the 450's once GasGas released them. After a little extra R & D GasGas re-released the 450. See GasGas didn't want anyone to have one of the bad quads out there while they were fixing the problem. They didn't want a bad rep or to disappoint any customers so the took the quad off the market until the problem was solved. This to me says alot about GasGas and how they take pride in what they build. My 2 cents

yea that does say alot they go the extra mile to satisfy there customers. unlike some companys today that i see releasing quads then having parts break and do nothing about it except say wait to next year.

I agree, But I've also been telling people to wait until the 04 models are out since GasGas has had some other small issues:
Radiator
stiff steering
optional 48" wide a-arms
bad impeller material
All the above have been addressed and the only one not available is the 48" a-arms. I would still like to see a different style radiator cap and a impeller made out of aluminum (I've been told that Les @ LTR is selling an aluminum one).
I'm sure there are other little bugs that others are having. Also remember I had a pre-production 300. So some of the problems have been fixed before the first true production model was release. It has been a learning curve for GasGas this year and that is why I've suggested to people to wait til the 2nd year models are released. I think this is also a reason why GasGas has spent any money in advertising. They what some of the customers to test in the real world how the quad holds up before they post flyers in mags and all over the web on their race ready quad. I think GasGas has found a place in the atv scene and they have a great product with a strong factory backing of the machine. And a slogan that states let the quad speak for it's self no hype. This way it doesn't end up like the Raptor which everyone talked up then trannies came apart and the SH** round down hill and more people bad mouth the quad.

See the difference is Yahama along with the other big companies can afford to continue sell products even when the know something needs fixed. Where as small companies like GasGas, Ktm, and Cannondale cann't take the hit of lost sales, mad/disappointed customers, or magizines slamming their products because of problems. Look what happen to Cannondale they tried to get too big to quick and they had some problems with the engines and instead of stopping production and fixing the problem they continued on and tried to warranty everything. We all know how that ended. It was a very sad day for the racing scene to be teased with such an awesome machine and then watch it just die and become a bad dream. GasGas knows this and that is way they are taking a different way to bring the quad into the US racing scene. They don't want to be compared or assoicated with Cannondale.
People may not agree with their tactics and take them as a joke. Even I wish they would put some time and money into getting the word out on their machines.

actually it would be nice to not make it a huge thing and not become like the banshee and every1 everywhere u go has one. i hate seeing the same quad again and again and again.

Gas Gas is improving there machines every day . My lattest release has a different shape to the rear seat and lighter stearing, still some resistence but nothing I notice while riding. Les at LTR has his aluminum impellers for sale now. It kept my 300 cool enough to touch in the sand with stock gearing. Now that corperate is importing and supplying they have control of custmer relations. I think its a matter of time before Gas Gas is known by everyone. The bikes and quads are to good not to. I here that they are going to release a 250 2 -stroke. Maybe it will have narrower A- arms.
