LT80 - Going for broke !!

You can try a little stiffer springs on the clutch weights to increase the stall and that is reversible, shaving weight is not. I haven't found the magic formula yet - but being able to reverse or undo your experiment sure helps! Good luck.

Back to the big carb question. I know LT80 runs the stock carb with great success, and ours seems to be in fine shape. BUT, I do have (given to me remind you) a brand new 20mm carb. (without the air filter and elbow) I know that it will not bolt up to the stock air cleaner, but, would it be worth a try to make an adapter to fit the bottom of the air cleaner and the carb, maybe a sheetmetal transition with rubber connections. It sounds like it would be alot of work, but I think it would actually be kinda easy with the 90 degree turn in it. Thing is, will the airflow be enough for the big carb? Is there draw backs to running the big carb? (other than the air cleaner) I can always give the carb back, or give him alittle something for it and sell it, just wondered what yalls exsperance is with-em.

I think they run OK. I think the stocker runs just fine also.
FYI: I see em just sticking a K&N type filter right on the carb. The hose your missing is just a piece of a radiator hose. You could measure and bother the parts guy till you find one. They do put a metal sleeve in the end of the tube so the filter clamp don't crush it.
All this depends on how much work you want to do.
For MX it's debatable whether the big carb helps much IMO.

Ok, I think I did to much at ones. Now the LT winds like crazy and then slowly takes off. I put the longer front bushing in, and took out two of the drilled rollers. The most agrevating part is the foot pegs and the skid plate. I've heard some take the footpegs off and cut them into 2 pc's so the clutch side can come all the way off. I sure think I'm going to do something like that . I think I'll just put the 2 rollers back in and leave well enough alone. What do all of yall think?

I too was frustrated with the foot pegs until someone told me to cut them. I'd never thought of it. Anyway, just take a sawzall or a hacksaw to the crossbar right in the middle, makes it a breeze to get in and out. Just leave the skidplate off until your done experimenting.
LT80 - your said the big carb was debatable for MX, what about TT & ST. Being wide open most of the time, would the LT benefit much from the bigger carb setup? What would you do with the stock setup to maximize airflow? Airbox - no airbox - holes in the airbox, etc.

asfas: your right, go back to the 6.
Footpeg: I make a aluminum spacer to go back between the two footpegs to support them.it's just a piece of 1" and I lathe down each end and leave a 1/4 inch wide part in the middle so the piece dont slide back and forth.
Carb: for a stock carb, yes inded cut the airbox. The motor robs the carb of air slightly if not cut.
The big carb may help on TT/ST.
Years ago (before going ama racing) I ran the big carb. Then the AMA demended stock. I really didn't slow down any.
If you want a big carb, call DG and tell em your a dealer. it'll cost you 175$. no dealer, you pay 225$.
