Sonik let me welcome you to the forums. We are mod'n up our lts for our kids, not for us as people do with 50 cc mx bikes. The lt 80 just won't take the extra wieght of an adult for more than an occasional test ride. Be carefull jumping a lt 80 that is not reinforced as it will most likely break the trans case.

Here's a little trick alot of us snowmobile tuners like to use to check out how far the belt is shifting.Just take a magic marker and draw a line from the center to the outer edge on the clutch faces. As the belt rubs up along the faces it will rub off the line and you can see how much the belt is moving. This will give you a more accurate picture than just revving it on a jackstand because everything is under load while you are riding it.

Well I'll report what I found. I took the cover off and fixed it where I could ride it. I found the belt did not come up in the front clutch. After taking it all apart, I switched the front bushing (old, longer style) back to the stock one (newer shorter style) Right now , with our 12 tooth front sprocket and 18" rear tires, ours will run about 40+. It still has a good amount of snap right off the bottom. Right now our riding has really slowed down due to basketball and deer season. My son that rides our LT got to ride a blaster about a month ago, and now thats all I hear. Problem is, he fits it well, can ride it quite easly, and is probably ready to move up. My other son rides a 300ex, so my youngest has rode it also. He just fits the blaster so much better, thats probably where we are heading for next year.
NOW, I'm really anxious to hear how DStroyer is doing on his project. Any news yet?
