We purchased the new 2016 dvx 90 back in december of 2016, probably has over 200hrs on it so far no issues. Sometimes it sits for a week or two without being cranked at all and it still fires up within 2sec of hitting the start button. Now it does idle high when cold but revs down as it warms up which is about 5mins but seems to still be faster that most, i just leave it alone. There is no need to adjust it as the manufacture has it reasons which probably has to do with the cvt transmission.
We use ethonal free 90oct with 1oz zmax and 1oz royal purple max atomizer for every two gallons of gas. The oil we use arctic cat 0w40 with 1/2oz of zmax and 1oz of motorkote.
All in all, we love the machine, i think you just got one that was a lemon and should in fact try another.

I believe the small Arctic Cats are all made by Kymco, up to 443 cc's, at least. But I think Kymco makes a bunch of other ones for different manufacturers. So I guess, with your luck, stay away from all the Kymcos. I feel the same way about Polaris, would never buy another, or a Ford, haha.

People are still finding/posting to this thread because people are still having this problem.

I have two Arctic Cat 90's, a 2010 and a 2011. The 2011 NEVER started as easily or idled as well as the 2010. Finally, I swapped the carburetors and the problem followed the carburetor. I bought a 0.75 gallon Berryman CHEM-DIP Carburetor and Parts Cleaner ($16 from Autozone). Disassembled the carb and soaked all parts overnight. Rinsed everything well with water (per instructions), used compressed air to blow through every opening and dry each part. Put it all back together, and IT WORKED! Now the "bad carb" ATV starts instantly and idles perfectly. I wish I had done it years ago!

One warning: the Chem-Dip did take the surface finish off of the aluminum body of the carburetor. But, since fuel must flow through several passages in that part, I don't regret soaking it.
