LT 80 Carb Problems
#11
Sound's good to me just be sure to follow lt80's advice and pull all the jets out of the carb and clean them. You should be able to see light thru them. Good luck!!!

I have had the same problems with the LT 80. I have taken the carb apart 3 times already and still won't idle with out the choke on. I'm just about ready to take it to the shop. Let me know if you find out what the problem is or I will post my results.

Welcome to the forums QuadMan,
Just to make sure, when you had the carb apart, you removed both jets and made sure all the lil holes were open?
You also removed the brass piece that the float needle sits in and cleaned it and the fuel passage?

Yes I did have both pilots out and I could see light through them. I also have the float out and cleaned that port but still nothing. So far I have frained the gas in the tank and put fresh fuel in and new plug. I'm running out of ideas.....

OK,
Next would be a compression test. Maybe even checking the reed.
What year is it?
It wouldn't be the first carb to go bad. Lets try to figure this out before you spend cashola for the dealer. I'd hate for the dealer to charge you 75$ to tell you that a 100$ carb is needed.
Do the compression test. We'll go from there.

Hrumph!
Well then, Is it new enough to still be under warranty?
Tough situation. I suppose you have no choice but to have them start there.
You don't happen to know anyone with a LT80 that you could try their carb?? That would tell alot.

Been there done that also....samething happened to me one time also and I must of taken the carb apart and cleaned it about 6 times. Finally took it apart thelast time and looked real close at the pilot jet. I could see light through it but wasnt sure if it was enough light. So I got a fine piece of wire and ran it through real well and was careful not to ruin the pilot. Looked through it again and it was much better....put it all back together and it ran like a champ. Sometimes when you let it set for a period of time that bad gas can plug them up and by looking thru the jet sometimes is not enough. Hope this helps
