Suzuki LT 80 replacement starter doesn't fit
Hi - Just joined the forums, done a number of searches but can't find the info I'm after.
I have just bought a replacement electric starter for Suzuki Lt 80 approx 1990. I removed the original without too much trouble (just removed the two large bolts that hold the engine in place and then put the quad so it was standing up on its rear wheels, then i was able to manouvere and twist the starter to remove it throught the small gap.
When I compared the original starter to the new one the overall length is the same, but the can part which holds the armature measures 10mm longer on the new starter than the original. This is stopping me from refitting the new starter as the very tip of the can is getting stuck on the engine casing.
Has anyone had the same problem? Can i get it to fit without having to remove the engine or carb?
Any help very much appreciated
