1987 LT 80 problems
#1
I just got my hands on a 1987 LT 80. I have really have no experience with them. It runs great but does not want to move. I rev the motor and it will move a few inches. From what I know which is not much, I am thinking it is the clutch. Anyone have some tips on what I can check, or do I have to take it into the shop?

Check the easy stuff first. Get the tires off the ground and see if they roll freely. If they don't, might have brakes locked up....or even the parking brake on? If they all roll freely, could be clutch or axle bearing, chain binding.

Ya, check it over, but clutch maint is needed I'm sure.
I suspect you'll find the grease in the front clutch hard as a rock and causing problems.

as already stated, make sure the parking brake is off after you get it started. The front brake cables on these things are junk. You need to stay on top of the cable maintainence, or you will have "sticky" front end. Just my two cents.

Thanks for all of the help and info, I will check it out and let you know how it goes.
Another question, I have been told if the peacock on these bike goes bad, it will contitue to push gas into the carb and then it runs bad and the carb leaks, anyone know if that is true. If it is, do you buy a new one from the dealer or is there a better answer to this problem.
Thanks
