Default Anyone Heard of Daymak ATV's?

ther is a place here in Toronto (daymak.com) that sells what look like pretty good ATV's, and they have a nice 11 cc "Grunt" with racks, headlights, tail and brake lights, a speedo, an alarm and remote start/stop, a bettery charger, an independent front suspension, hydraulic (rear) brakes, and very good footwells, all for $999 Canadian (about $850 U.S.) they says they get very few back for service problems, but does anyone have experince with the Grunts (50 cc, 70 cc, or 110 cc)? Are they any good?

Thanks a bunch, Timmerman. I did not know about these guys, and they are much closer to my house than Daymak!

I called them up and they are moving, so I will follow-up later. Know anything about the 110 cc "Grunt" bike that Daymak sells? Or how good the allwheels.ca bikes are?

Some people aroung here have had problems with daymak, others have had better luck with allwheels or theoffroadsource. I bought from theoffroadsource after i talked to people who bought from them and people that bought from daymak. I also talked to a dealer who sold for daymak, he now sells a different brand of chinese bikes he says are better quality with more parts. He also does repairs on products. A straight shooter. He tells you like it is.

Thanks again, Timmerman. I called tyendinaga and they still sell Daymak (exclusively), and said they have not had many problems with the Grunt 110.

Who is the other dealer who switched from Dayma if you don't mind my asking? Perhaps I should consider looking at their ATVs!

Timmerman, I talked to him, and he says he likes the Kazumas a lot better, and had problems with Daymak, so thanks again for helping me to avoid a bad purchase! (SEADAWG, take note!)

I also learned something VERY interesting from him, and that is that you can get Lifan ATV's, which use Lifan motors, which are the #1 selling motor in China, and which are apparently made from the actual die patents from Honda, and thus supposedly reflect Honda quality (although probably oder technology). He said others copy, but these guys are the real McCoy.

Anyone know anything more about this? (You can check out the Canadian Distributor at www.coasttocoastmotorsports.com in B.C.)

There is also a distributor in Cambridge, Ontario (www.bushbearatv.com) which has a 4 X 6 ATv with a big dump box on the back, which I believe also uses a Lifan motor (a 233 cc twin cylinder), which I want to drive out and have a look at. Anyone know anything about these? Home Hardware is going to be selling them very soon.

In any case, it seems that the Lifan motors are what you want in a mainland Chinese bike.

I do not know if this is pertinent information for you or not.....I am a Daymak dealer in Alberta, Canada, and I have not had any major problems with the Daymak line.....Having brought in and sold quads from 50cc through to 400cc.....dirt bikes, pocket bikes, and Mini Choppers. The 110cc Grunt is my most popular item to date.....other than the mini choppers.

I get more calls for repair work on the Giovanni's, Eton's, Konkers and the Crappy Tire ones than I do any of the Daymak products.........

Little info for you, all the motors are based on the old Honda's, just a matter of the side plate of the engine, this is where the companies put the "brand" name. I have taken a side plate off mine, "Daymak", and bolted it rite onto a giovanni, and a Konker, and a Lifan, might as well, they're here for service, and curiousity got the better of me.......Basically there are 5 factories manufacturing the components for these bikes and they all buy from each other, (1 plastic, one engine, one frame, etc)...........so I guess........not sure which one is actually a "better product"............

Hope this helps you on your decision

I'm also a mechanic /dealer for a couple import bike/ATV mfg. the thing to remember is all of these bikes are basically the same. Several Chinese companies all produce the exact same bike. Some things on the chassis and plastics may be different but engine wise they are all pretty much the same. IMO the down fall of these bikes is NOT the engines (basic HONDA clones) but rather the suspension. The good part about it is shocks and forks from other bikes will bolt right up if you have the urge to upgrade. The engines are very reliable.
But maintenace is the key with any machine regardless who makes it. Use good synthetics and grease/lube moving components often and you won't have any problems.
FWIW the newer Chinese knock off bikes are getting a LOT better. Several years ago they were so poorly made it was scary but the Chinese have greatly improved their quality control over the past couple years and it will only get better with years to come. The bad part about many of these places selling these bikes is they do not warranty their products or have a service department. MAKE sure if you buy these bikes that you get some kind of warranty and they have a service department. Crappy tire will sell you a Baja bike or ATV but they won't fix it, they usually send you to some hole in the wall shop for repairs. I personally like the knock off and chinese import bikes. For the years I have owned them the costs of repairs do not nearly amout to the cost of a Honda or Yamaha of the same class.
At less then 1/2 the cost I can buy two bikes for the price of one, ride one if the other breaks down LOL

Daymak 250 $2100
Honda CRF230 $4400
