Default Changing the oil on our kids ATV for the first time

This is our first gas powered toy. It is supposed to be a 110cc clone honda engine on a Roketa mini ATV. I know they aren't recommended, but it was inexpensive and I wanted to get the kids one before i get my 350 Yamaha in a few months.

Forgive my ignornace, but this is my first machine. I never had one as a a kid to have any experience in them, but want my children to have some fun. Anyway, I took the wrong drain plug out and a spring and metal tube with holes in it fell out along with very little oil. What is that plug for and did I screw anything up taking it out ? It only seemed to fit back in one way and it runs fine.

Welcome to the forum SteveMO!

That was the "filter", and what you did was no big deal. The drain plug is on the bottom of the engine and most likely uses a 17mm wrench to remove. I would use any name brand 10w-40 motor oil in it.

With a wet clutch (automatic or not) I really wouldn't use a regular motor oil. The friction modifiers in regular motor oil will play heck with the wet clutch. PLEASE, use a motorcycle specific 10-40 or 20-40 oil made for this purpose. It should have "JASO spec" on it with NO FRICTION MODIFIERS.

any regular motor oil will work, they will not hurt the clutch, just make sure to change it often since their's no oil filter, you can use any good 10w40, 15w40 or the kazuma owner's manual says 20w50 for these engines
