welding sec. clutch

Default welding sec. clutch

just saw someone saying that they had there sec. clutch welded. what does it do? where is it welded? any pros or cons? Im just lonely and found this on a site and never herd of doing it.

Default welding sec. clutch

This could be 2 things.
1) The rear clutch hub is welded solid to eliminate the slipping...not a good idea no slip=broke gears.
2) Welded tranny. This is a race only option and not known by most. I like the welded tranny as it eliminates any chance of broken gears. It changes the gearing required. A normal mx gearing of 13/26 would be 10/41 with the welded tranny.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

cool I saw a welded clutch drum on ebay and couldnt figure out what it did. so the drum slip between two shims is welded. that not meaning the clutch pack. correct? does it make it faster becouse of no slipage? holeshot better?

Correct, not the clutch pack.
I feel there was no gain to the welded hub. More chance of gear damage IMO.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
