Once freshened up, let's see what the carb does. It does sound like an air leak tho. Possibly that o-ring your getting.
The reed cage o-ring is built right in.
A 90 main jet should be fine.
If your cylinder is on the stock bore, you will ask for a .5 over piston (.020).
PLEASE get a Suzuki piston.

Thank you for the link. The visual helps.
I got the piston ordered and made sure to get a Suzuki one.
I went through the carb again and all looked well except......the line to the carb from the oiler was cracked. Might have been my leak! I took the brass fitting out and tapped and placed a plug in it. Hopefully that cures it. Still have to wait until next week for the piston to come in before the bore the cylinder. I'll give some feedback once reassembled.
Thanks again for all the help......Sy

Ok, got it all back together. Turns out the cylinder was already bored. Had to go 1.5 over with a Weisco. Broke it in over the weekend and seems ok so far. I've got 150+ compression. Boy, this brought the bike to life and the clutch seems to work perfect (or actually work for once). I only went to 184 on the rear shoes. Figured I could take a little more off later if needed. A little lift on the bars and wheelies are not a problem! Thanks for all the info LT80!
I still have one issue though.......it is still idling high. I think I got it to an acceptable level, but it still kind of stumps me. Here is what I did....
Initally, I put in a new set of Boyesen reeds with the original reed cage. I also tapped and pluged the oil injector on the carb. When I started it, I had to put two fingers over the carb to get it to idle low enough. After putting everthing together, it was still idling high. I adjust the cable and the throttle screw. Still to high. I think the seal on my reed cage and carb spacer were suspect, so I replaced them with all new parts, including o ring. Idle was better, but not purfect.
I changed the main jet needle, so the clip is on the last groove (top) and have the idle screw almost all the way out (probably about 4 turns). I was trying for 2 1/2 turns. It is still a little high, but not grabbing at the clutches. When I start it it idles fine, but if I run it around, the idle seems to creep up. I've sprayed cleaner all over the carb and can't find any leaks. I've checked the crank seals the same. No idle change and no evidence of leaking seals. Just doesn't seem quite right. No leak down on compression test. Any ideas? LT80, any advice?
