Default Need some help with lt 80 carb settings & wiring

I got a LT 80 from my neighbour who was moving away and couldn't take it with him he said it ran fine when he parked it a few years back then it ran to rich. He tore into it a little before giving up and giving it to me. I have looked it over and it needs a fair amont of tlc front bushings back bearing ect. But before I spend a bunch of money on it I would like to make sure I can make it run properly. I drained the tank put fresh gas in it took carb off and blew out all passages and it fired right up, But it seems to idle really high and bogs out as soon as you touch the throttle it seems to go a little better with the choke on but still bogs out. From what I have read it looks like I need to take the carb off and re-clean My real questions are around where the mixture? screw should be set on the right side of the carb and why it is idleing so high I have backed the cable off as much as I can going into the carb. I am not sure on the year as the sticker was rubbed off and when we run the serial number nothing comes up, It is yellow and black and the guy that give it to me thinks it is a early 90's model I have also noticed two wires under the front plastic the go into th main wiring harness that are cut off and twisted together a black one and a black with white stripe not sure what they are for? I can't seem to find a wiring schmatic anywhere.
Thanks in advance for any help. P.S. sorry about the legnthy entery

Welcome to the forums.
The wire twisted:: There is supposed to be a switch on the parking brake. Most eliminate that switch and twist the wires..That's my guess.
Clean the carb well. I'd disassemble it and boil it for a while. There is something in it.
Year shouldn't matter much, they are all the same.
The mixture screw is the idle adjustment..No mixture screw on a LT80.

awsome thanks for the info. If the screw on the side of the carb is the idle screw then what is the adjustment at the top of the carb where the throttle cable goes in for?

To properly adjust the cable.
Pull up on the cable till the slack comes out. Then unscrew the brass screw to the cable. Leave a slight bit of slack.
Once you get the idle adjustment to control the idle where it belongs, fine tune the cable adjustment.
That should do it.

If you have had the carb off, you may have an air leak somewhere too, and that will mess with your idle AND bog as you dscribed. I agree, you really need to invest in a carb cleaning, and perhaps a needle kit.

Default got it running

So I boiled the carb put it all back together and it runs great. Thanks for All the help. It doesn't seem to pull as hard as it should though, so from what I am reading it is into the clutches next by looking in the air intake for the clutch it looks likely that they are full of dust and dirt.
