Default JCL 110cc Oil?

Hi, thinking this is a dumb question, because I kinda know the answer. Do i need to use "wet clutch" oil in my daughter's JCL 110cc (it's fully auto)?

Being that she ride in the winter, would 10w-30 be ok in that lil motor?

Gonna do oil change today along with my z400, gonna give the Rotella T a try, been hearing a lot of peeps saying this is a good oil, and I'm not into paying $6/qt for oil just because it has a nice picture of an atv on it!

I would think ordinary motor oil is fine. I use 10w-40 in my 150cc quad. I have a dry clutch though. I've read many warnings about using synthetic oil in wet clutch quads both on the internet and printed in user manuals. It makes the clutch slip.

I would also think that changing oil regularly is much more important that getting special $7 a quart oil (the price in my locale) with an ATV picture on it.

I change my oil every 15 hours of operation.

Welcome to the forum BigDartMike!

I use Valvoline 10wt-40 in all of my Chinese and Honda 4 strokes.. no clutch problems.. my 1969 Minitrail still has the stock engine.. only been apart when my kids crashed it and bent the shift fork..

Wow, whats this thing hold, about a cup? I was expecting maybe a quart, way overfilled, had to drain some out. I didn't find a filter(screen) in the hole with the spring, maybe it is pushed up in the bore, and needs pulled out with a curved pick? should I worry about rinsing the screen?(oil wasn't too bad, just dark, not a lot of particulates or burnt smell)

I don't know any specifics about your quad, but "a cup" doesn't sound right. It should be more like slightly less than a quart.

Hole with a spring? It should be just a plug bolt.

I don't think your taking out the right plug to drain the oil. Perhaps you're taking out the cam chain tensioner bolt? There is sometimes a little oil in there, (but way less than a cup).

I wasn't being literal on the "cup", it was over pint, but less than qt.

There are 2 bolts on crankcase bottom, they smaller one was a drain, the larger one had a long spring.
