Change your engine and transmission oil after the first hour of use and if for some reasone your Dale won't start after you have ridden it a few times, you prolly fouled your plug. I have done it twice and have heard of a lot of people do the same thing.

Oil to use:
Transmission, I use Honda's HP2 transmission oil, weight is 80/85W
Crankcase, I use full synthetic 10W40 such as Castrol
The back of your owners manual will tell you what oil to use and the amounts.
And change both quite often!!

Also visit cannondale's web site, they have a pdf file you can download which describes in detail the proper procedure to use when starting your c'dale, here is the web site that has this info:
http://www.cannondale.com/motorsport.../techtips.html

If you do not follow this, it's easy to foul your plug!!

I put my first hour on mine this morning, changed the oil this afternoon and went riding a coule more hours.
It's not hard to change, but not as easy as my Polaris, the only problem I had was finding a peice of hose for the drain on the right side frame. I used a short piece of old garden hose just to get by. You also need an air compressor to clean the filters. I used Honda HP2 in the trans and Module 10W40 in the engine.

I know alot of people who use Klotz in their 2 strokes and I'm sure Klotz makes a good 4 stroke oil. The nice thing about the C'dale's, since the transmissions and crank case are separate, just like your car or truck, you don't have to go out and buy the high dollar motorcycle type oils like Klotz and Maxima's 927. If you choose to use "normal" automotive type oil for the crank case, do use at least a partial synthetic or full synthetic oil. I use a full synthetic 10W40 and I pay around $4.25/quart, and the best part, you can find these at walmart!!
