I have a 2000 400EX, with slip on white bros dyno tuned and hole in air box. I was getting ready to spend 1,200 for A-arms and Shocks and another 2,500 for a 440 kit with cam, carb, port and polish. I have a chance of trading it for a new SPEED from ALBA I gave them a deposit.

I have yet to ride a "C" but am looking forward to it based on what I saw at Dumont Dunes.

So the questions:
What should I be aware of, if I go forward with this?
What is so great about the "C"?
Is it as easy to ride as the Honda I have now?
Handeling, suspension, reliability are concerns?

I love my honda but the power is below what my friends ride DS650 and Quadracer, 15 years old and still pulls me.

Input is needed.

Thanks

Smitty

Whats great about it?... It has AWESOME power... Mine is completely stock and I was tied for 1st or 2nd in the holeshot until I had to start drifting over (crappy gate position).

Will it handle like the Honda?... It could stand to be a little lower... adding some 18 inch Turf Tamers would help greatly. You could lower the rear 1 inch and it would allow it to slide much better than those "overly grabby" holeshots.

What should you be aware of?... Check all the bolts after the first ride and after the hour break in period, CHANGE THE MOTOR AND TRANS. OIL, AND CLEAN THE FILTERS! Very important that you do that. The filters had a lot of metal shavings on it when I first cleaned them, and the oil is just "break in" oil. And DEFINITELY check the chain slide.

The C-dale is awesome. The power is incredible and like I said before, I didn't have to much trouble out accelerating completely mx ready R's, 400ex's, and Shee's, and that was only my second race ever. When I get some 18 inch tamers, I'll be able to accelerate even quicker . Kinda makes me feel like a bad ***

At Dumont I meet a couple of guys from this Forum. I saw some really fast bombs, my bud has one and took off with a bunch of them for a bomb sand ride on Sat. and Sat. night I was at the Hill where they where racing jeeps and ran into a couple of Bomb owners. I met Fernado (spelling), saw a pretty fast Baja. Another one with the Stage one from Woods, my bud was asking about his carb. My Bud got to much info on what to do to make his faster, we suggested that he learn to ride first, LOL. I missed Sandpigs bike, I wanted to see that one run. I rode the bonb a couple of times and don't like the size, to big for me.

I talked to a 400 owner with the Sparks 505 running alcohol, that bike was fast, but where back to the $2,500 and finding alcohol to burn could be a pain and he mentioned cracked cases when you go large on displacement. Confirmed with a quick e-mail to Sparks.

So I'm dumping the Honda and either waitng for the Suzuki or will get the Speed. I wasn't impressed with the raptors at comp.

I saw a Cannibal run at Gordons well last week, very fast for a stock bike. Beat all raptors, ds, 400ex, and a few piped banshees. Im thinking about selling my Banshee for a Cannibal, I was that impressed.

Sand45, That was me...I was the one with the sprocket problem on friday that you helped me change back to stock. Smitty (HAD) the 400...now I guess I'll have to deal with him on the Cannondale... It'll be great to have a new machine in the camp! Sounds like a great ride!

Still working on the SPEED deal. I went to pick it up and the final price of the whole deal I wasn't happy with. They have some work to do and so do I so it looks like saturday I will close the deal. This is of course based on the numbers.

What are people paying for the Speeds?

Thanks

Smitty

Sand45,

It was nice to meet you and look forward to riding with you again.
