Going on my first real day of riding this weekend, Im a little worried
#1
I have some concerns about doing a full day of riding.
1. Fuel Filter.....it'll probably be about a 6 or 7 hour ride. Should I just change the filter before I leave? And could someone tell me how to change it without making a mess like I did today
2.Fuel Range......once again about a 6 or 7 hour ride of doing pretty much nothing but hills & jumps....so wide open most of the time. Should I maybe fill up a 20oz bottle with some gas?
3. Extreme amounts of fun. What should I do? I might not be able to handle it all in one day.
Thanks

Im going to Izzabell Dumps. So I'll be pretty much in on spot the whole day, and theres a gas station like 10-15 minutes from the place....I just dont wanna get stranded.
I dont have anywhere to keep a fuel bottle or I would have one.

Hey Kodiak01, I cange my filter about 10-15 hour intervals( around every two rides) Usally it takes about 6-8 hours on a tank of gas and we run hard through woods trails and coal dumps with some hill climbing and every once in awhile drag racing on back roads. the extreme amounts of fun there's no fix sorry
TaintedGlory, The fuel filters need changed every 5-10 hours or they get clogged and you'll have trouble starting it. I ussaly get about 10-15 hours out of one but I strain my gas with a coffee filter that seems to help it out better.

Ok, Thanx......the other day I only got about 5 hours out of it, but its pretty new.
Now, I changed my fuel filter today and disconnected it and it was an endless flow of gas...all over the floor, is there a shut-off valve somewhere?
Thanks

You need to remove the hose from the gas tank. The line from the filter that runs to the tank, remove it their at the quick connect, that'll take care of that.

Hmm can't answer that one mine has the old style gas tank with the quick disconect on the back of the tank. Maybe you could use something to pinch the line????? On another note where is the Izzabel dumps at? I'm up near Johnstown, PA.

Place shop rags around old filter to absorb residual fuel
Unplug the top line coming into the filter.
Stick your finger over the hole.
Insert the new filter into the top line
Put your finger over where the gas is coming out at the bottom of the new filter.
Remove old filter from outfeed line, set aside.
Insert new filter into outfeed line
You lose maybe a table spoon of gas, the rags will handle that.

Get a wooden clothes pin and crimp the fuel line. Then get a pair of needle nose vise grips and tighten it enough to apply more pressure on the clothes pin. The clothes pin doesn't have enough pressure to crimp the fuel line by itself but prevents the line being cut by the vise grips. Works great and you won't lose any fuel.
