I do ride a dirt bike.I own two street legal dirt bikes. I have been trail riding for over 42 years and have owned ATC and ATV's for 20 years. I also have owned numerous Dune Buggy's and 4 wheel drive vehicles. And I have lived in Michigan all my life.

I strongly feel it is a safety issue. As I get older my reactions and skills are lessened, and I think younger riders would be safer on wider trails. I would like all of us to have the same trail provileges the snowmobilers have (I used to be one of them), as far as side of the road travel to gas and food, motels, etc. There are some gains being made in some counties on this, but I remember when it was a lot more accessible. If someone is injured, it is much easier to transport them out of a wider trail.

I guess its safer except for the higher speeds that can be reached on a road with a dirtbike compared to a single track trail. Not to mention how boring it would be for those that can still ride fast/or just like single track.

What amazes me most about this thread, is each group in here wants trails that suit them. While claiming the other side wont compromise. Good luck to all of you, Im staying in Ca.
