You've got to understand that I've already went through the initial "well by God we built these trails and you just don't understand that we are 'God' around here" phase they dish out to each and every newcomer hoping to be informed/ get involved on the issues here in Michigan...and frankly shear numbers coupled with people desiring to use a system that cycle leadership IS NOT interested in maintaining properly...are a few damn good reasons to question these arrogant ***** in the first place.

Thanks for the opinion....I just think its comical that these guys continually try to play both sides of the fence desperately trying to hold on to what they think 'the lord himself' has provided for their use....and their use only.

The only true atv club representative to ever sit on this board was a one-term-and-out guy several years ago who wouldn't even allow free elections in his own club and even demanded that you be 'pre-approved' to even attend his own damn meetings.
The most recent board (which took well over a year to install after being decimated with simple term expirations to such a low number that the board couldn't even so much as field A QUORUM)...has ignored every single one of my repeated requests to simply acknowledge that the public even exists....save one guy who left a message saying he would "call me back" and never did and a sherrif who I don't expect to respond anyways considering his daily job (they were installed on Nov. 8th).

Put it this way, DB....'ol "Dick" above and the only other guy left from this previous board have 3 year terms which expire in 25 days....how long do you think I've been telling people how <u>ridiculous</u> it is ...that these positions HAVE NOT been offered up for grabs LONG **before** this time....and especially in light of how <u>long</u> the DNR previously dragged their feet in installing these present no-name individuals..."representatives" who I can find no public record of even previously attending the same meetings they now preside over?

We used to say way back in the '70s that "less sound equals more ground" Now it seems like "less sound might let us keep the ground we have" MWQ

 

If I could find one good conservative no b.s. West Michigan Dutchman in this mess...things would be a breeze.

"Instead"...I'm dealing with an entire army of enthusiasts who either think their machine was crafted by "the gods" for some kind of mythical mission to own the woods...or light 4-wheeled enthusiasts more worried about who's bringing those weenies to the next big ride.....and if their wife will let them go.

This was never <u>"their"</u> system in the first place....and I think you've made my point without realizing it.

If I have every right to be an arrogant cry-baby like these guys...why shouldn't i simply annoint my "Rhino" (a machine that transports many <u>more</u> young, disabled and senior citizens in this country into their rightful outdoor experience than any cycle ever thought of doing)....why shouldn't I declare this machine to have a "width of its own enjoyment" and demand that any and all other machines stay OFF of "my" trails....seeing that there are (and always will be) PLENTY of exclusively availiable trails for all of us to enjoy, separate (of course) from the other, until the sun burns out? (one exclusively for the cyclists, one exclusively for the atvers, one exclusively for the RUVs, one exclusively for whatever other machine that comes along in the natural progression of technology, etc, etc.).

It comes down to these guys wanting to bastardize and completely re-define the term "multi-use"....while pre-determining who is truly "god".... and who is not!

 

Then who's system was it? From what Ive read, "they" the dirt bike rider's maintained and promoted some areas for 2 wheel travel. Like Ive said before, ALL my info comes from a dirt bike perspective. And I appreciate your input. MWQ

 

And maybe they dont think they are "Gods", but think they have paid their dues and have earned their position. And alos maybe dont like 4' wide trails. I know I dont. But that doesnt mean quads also dont have a right to ride also. The problem seems to be where.

 

ALOT of 'HE said-SHE said' stuff and NON of it has been found to be true.

BB has adamently accused the Cycle Conservation Club of Michigan of strong arming the DNR with threats of pulling out of the trail maintenance program in Michigan if certain area's of concern did not go their way regarding the trails in Michigan.Yet when one speaks to the powers that be [Bill Chapin] of the CCC earlier this year,he strongly denies any of this..I've know Bill for awhile now,and I beleive him.

BB claims that the cycle guys and the ATVers in this State are also MILES apart and discontent with each other..What he's actually attempting to do here is to DIVIDE these two users groups as far apart as he can in an attempt to vaildate HIS point of SEPERATION,while proving NO grounds to substanciate ANYTHING he says,and it s NOT working..Most every ATVer and cyclist I speak with [and I speak with over a 1000 a year] are more than happy to work WITH each other.

BB mentions that Dicks position is completed in 25 days [lie]

BB stated that the ORV advisory board has no ATVers on it..Lets see?Last time I rode with Dick and Ken Paulson in Rose City,I could SWEAR that DICK was on a brand new Bombardier ATV,I'll have to make sure it was'nt a cycle.

BB should take-up writting FICTION paperbacks-he'd make ALOT of $$..

No doubt,EVERY off road enthusists needs EACH OTHER.

There is nothing more that the DNR would LOVE than to see the dirtbikers and ATVers at each others throat over land usage.This will get NEITHER group ANYWHERE and will give the DNR the power they need to SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING to BOTH user groups.

Instead of BB going to these ORV board meetings and trying to get involved WITH BOTH user groups with USEFULL SOLUTIONS,he wastes his time spreading useless BS in forums such as this.He has been bitching for 5 yrs now and im wondering if he would be so kind as to tell this reading audience WHAT gains he has made in this sport the last 5 years?Another words,BB,how is OUR sport BETTER off now because of YOU vs 5 years ago?
