This is what's happening in the state of Michigan. Keeping on talking and in the mean time your lossing your rights all around you.

Attorney General Makes Ruling
Received a phone call from Representative Sheltrown’s office today, informing us that the Attorney General had made a ruling that no ORV’s may be operated on a county road unless, as I understand it, on an access route being part of the trail system.
Expect more details as they become available and options open to the ORV community.

For one, I resent the reference to sustainably maintainable multi-use widths being referred to as "roads".
Unfortunately, this has been a childish attempt on the cyclist's part to partisanly frame each and every debate on the subject of "me-only" two track mileage v.s rightful access for the majority of this community...before it has ever begun.
Beyond these sophomoric attempts at "affirmative trail action" (must be that these Detroit area residents have really 'embraced' the warped philosophy of their inner city neighbors) your question involving 'fair' trail percentages and why I have refused to answer same is simple....EVERY MICHIGAN ORV LEADER I'VE EVER ASKED THE SAME QUESTION BOTH IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE (and we're talking hundreds of instances here for over going on 7 years) BOTH REFUSED TO ANSWER SAME AND GOT DAMN NASTY WITH ME TO BOOT!.
Suggestion:
How about these clubs raising money for an independant user survey concerning units sold in the year of our lord 2006 by Michigan speed shop dealers...take said cycles sold percentage and compare same with the massive "me-only" cycle trail mileage laid down already (over 40% of an over 3,000 mile system?)...and force their cycle led super-secret MMRC council to not suggest any 'new' mileage this coming week....that 2006 sales just don't support in relations to units sold?
Let me get this straight, MWQ....you are demanding that an orv user with no power and no popular support...immediately answer your questions concerning massive popular and needed multi-use vs "me-only" trail mileage...yet you give each and every member of the super-secret and anonymous cycle led MMRC.... a "pass" on that very subject for all these months they've been meeting behind closed doors like they were deciding the fate of the free world itself? (not to mention after repeated calls for them to answer the same question?).
For pete sakes, MWQ....every atv club member up here has been sworn to silence for 7 years now on the very subject you ask ME to somehow comment on!. Do you think that an orv user who can't even stand up like a man and tell the world exactly what sub-chapter his club now belongs to (motorcycle or atv)...do you believe that this individual somehow now has "permission" to freely or publicly discuss both what you and I evidently consider a legitimate question?
And as for starting my own club....why in the hell would I want to 'partner' with ANY individual who sat back and said NOTHING for all these years or is told daily to keep their mouth shut as to what they actually believe in concerning the future makeup of this largest trail system in our country?
And if I could get past all of that...how do you sit next to a guy from "entitlement driven" big city southeastern Michigan.... who vehemently believes that the future environmental health and modernized sustainable maintenance of our "old" 3,000 mile trail system in dire need of millions of dollars in present and incalcuable projected repairs...is FAR less important than he and his family spending less money on gas to frequent the economic areas this state has already sunk millions more in to build up over time?
Sorry, but if you won't stand up for things like meetings being cancelled for 6 months, fired stenographers; super-secret/anonymous councils or even the DNR's recent inability to ask for simple public commentary regarding the disposition of massive amounts of orv trail mileage...I consider you just another "who brought the weenies?" bozo at the trailhead.
