Again, I think that a part of trail systems should be "maintained" for the joy riders out there, but I would hang up my helmet if that is all I had to ride. Sorry but Cycle trails for the most part can go without maintenence. You guys bikes are only what 24 inches wide at the handlebars? That means that you pretty much can go wherever you want and make a path if necessary. Think about the people, like myself, that are on a machine that is TWICE as wide at the least. Kinda limits your options on where we can and can't go does'nt it? Our trails, without maintenance, will be impassable (if I spelled that right). Your trails without maintenance will just be a little annoying but you'll still be able to ride.

Since the majority of the ORV population in Michigan seems to be snomobile and ATV oriented, to me it would only make sense that the majority of trail mileage in the state were widened to 60". Stunna, wouldn't disagree with that at all. But, if that did happen, I would think the cyclist would want some kind of guarantee that the 4 wheel users wouldn't ride thier trails, and thus take their enjoyment level away. Sadly that will never happen, as posted earlier in this thread where someone had the attitude, if I pay for it, I'm gonna ride it.
Hope that some day, an agreement can be worked out for all riders in that area, but judging from some replies here, it won't be anytime soon.

I have spent way more time on a quad than a bike, and while a bike is easier to go places and I don't mean because of width, I can still get a quad to go about anywhere. Huge log removal....yes, accesive branches and brush....yes, but a few logs here and there are good if anything. It will keep the yahoo's that are new to the sport with fast quads flying through the trails. At least the logs will make them slow down or knock them silly. Sounds mean, but better they hurt themselves than innocent people. Tougher trails slow people down.

I complain about the fact that you cyclists choose to come on in here and lead these guys around due to simple ignorance or a willingness to look past things like maintenace-related legacies/ongoing environmental damage if Santa Cycle will build them a "big Detroit city" riding area right out their back door ...yet it's refreshing when your "by gosh its our <u>right</u>" mentality rears its oft-hidden ugly face now and again....making my job sooooo much easier. The fact is that they already ride every motorized trail in existence (not enough; see quoted post above) and that there has (sadly) never existed a Michigan orv rider who put the environmental health and sustainable welfare of our present 3,000 mile trail system <u>in</u> <u>front</u> <u>of</u> their inarguably selfish desire to ride right outside their back door before said aformentioned responsibility was a reality.
