The purchase of an ORV sticker doesn't give any person the RIGHT to do anything, it gives them the PRIVILEGE to use the ORV trails.

The sticker money as stated in this thread before is legislativly mandated as to how it is going to be used. Even the DNR can't change that fact, they too have to work within those parameters.

If the club wants to get more paying members, they should state their position publicly for everyone to know and maybe people would be inclined to join if they liked what the group is fighting for. Clear concise statements from your club would help all of us understand and know the ATV related issues in Michigan and maybe make us wanna join your club. I feel like your question is a fair question and advise you to go over to the ATVOFFROAD.NET and sign-up [free] over on that website and ask your questions in there. I'd help you out with answering your questions in here, however, no matter HOW I answer them in here, BB will find some kind of fault, one way or the other,and im much to BUSY to be listening to his BS.

You could just give a response here though. Spurring a relevant discussion among everyone in this thread on this topic would'nt be a bad idea.

 

Usualy this isn't much of a problem. Most OHV riders dont venture out in the winter to hit the trails. The few of us that do studd up out OHV;s and hit the trails usualy dont have any troubles. There are some trails that are shared by both Sled and OHV's that are off limits to OHV's during certain months in the winter. You have to watch for those.

Yea there are sled riders out there that look at us as a plague. But they are few and far between. Most just shake there heads and smile at us crazy winter OHV riders and continue down the trail.

 

"I" define arrogance as the heartfelt belief that one group has some kind of god-given right to exclusively access land that they do not only own; but have absolutely no legal leg to stand on in regards to forever shutting out the rest of a community in this kind of selfish manner.

Since no group in the history of motorized recreation has <U>ever</U>displayed this kind of arrogance in regards to working TOGETHER with the rest of their community....I've got to think that you've just answered your own question in regards to another grade-school attempt at turning this subject around for the purpose of not focusing on the pressing issues at hand.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

If what you say above is true....where do I write my congressman about stopping these training subsidies to parents with Cadillac Escalades pulling trailers full of brand new quads....and scaling back the sticker percentage (from 3% to 1%?) for training subsidies to families showing up with rigs that are barely held together?

Question:
If a family shows up asking the Michigan public to subsidize their written only training requirements....can they then show up at a later date asking us to again subsidize their hands-on training? What is the minimum time frame between those two requests?
Just asking, yet how will this potential for "double dipping" affect those less than fortunate kids relying on limited training funds to not only get trained...but effectively prevent their Cadillac sporting neighbor from soaking up the majority of those funds before their class is scheduled perhaps later in the fiscal year?

Training subsidies based on income is the only smart way to approach any of this while conserving the funds actually needed to run an annual program....and if either the parent or the trainer chooses to buck a simple "honor system" in the process....heck let "God" deal with 'em in the end. (we don't need to subsidize what every parent should be doing in the first place when they can afford it ...and we sure as heck don't need to be running out of money at the end of the year for those who can't).

 

Excuse me, we're not talking 1 or 3% from every sticker...rather 1 (current) vs 3 dollars out of every sticker sold for subsidized training.

My friend, I've travelled to every location that these people have ever congregated at. My only request has been for 'somebody' to simply stand up like a man, look me in the eye and answer very simple questions pertaining to full public disclosure of their contact/meeting information; closed door decision making processes and antiquated maintenance procedures that purposely shut out the environmentally friendly modern technology availiable for purely selfish monetary motives.

I have always been willing to work with anyone man enough to simply "agree to disagree"....yet this group's tactics have always called for immediately discrediting any who threatened their effective long time control over this community or embarrased their long held positions concerning simple access for all or (more importantly) the overall sustainable environmental health/maintenace of what is a MASSIVE orv trail system.

You may believe that simply demanding over750 miles of additional trail be mandated with abolutely no funding, method for sustainable maintenance, framework for composition or public commentary requested is a "great idea"....my opinion leans towards incompetent leadership at its very <u>worst</u>.
