In Mass, I have been told that if an intruder enters my house, if I shoot him, I will more than likely go to gail, not the perp. And go to jail for a LONG time.
I was told that my life has to be in "eminent danger" in order to use deadly force. And even then, you had better hire a good, expensive lawyer!
Also, I was told that I can not protect personal property (car, house, quad, bike, ect.) with deadly force. If I do, again I go to jail for a LONG time.
I was also told that if I shoot the guy that breaks into my home for whatever reason, and he lands outside the front door, I will go to jail......again for a LONG time.
You see, in Mass I believe that things are quite complicated when it comes to injuring the CRIMINAL.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Damm....i wonder how much of that legislation can be tied to Ted?

It is like that everywhere.(except maybe Texas) You can't just shoot someone because of breaking and entering. If they are armed with a gun and you are in danger then you can. Just like if someone has a knife and is threatening you from 10 feet away, you can't shoot them.

We passed the Castle Doctrine here in Texas. If you're trying to get into my house, I don't have to wait for you to break in. If you're removing items from my property, I have the right to stop you.
Been about 4 or 5 shootings in the past week or so here in Dallas. All were justified under the law.(and by most opinions from reading the papers)
If you try to steal from me, I will shoot you. If you try to harm any member of my family, I will shoot you. It ain't rocket science, and even some of the less trustworthy members of our neighborhood know there's at least one house to stay away from.

Actually several states including Missouri have what is called a "Castle Doctrine" law in which you can use deadly force on someone who illegally enters your home even if they are not armed. A recent case occurred in Cape Girardeau in which a woman shot and killed an intruder with a shotgun.

My opinon on the Messiah, the third coming of Jesus, i mean obama. i didnt vote for him, i dont like him. i dont like his liberal views. i make well less than 25K a year. he says he is going to lower my takes, great. however, he will then have to increase other taxes on me to pay for all of the govt funded handouts, i mean programs. we are not a socialist or european country and obama wants to move us closer to that state. i dont care that hes black, if he was qualified i would have voted for him.
as for guns and gun rights, i believe in the 2nd ammendment. i also believe with a democrat controlled federal govt they will be able to severly limit the citizens rights for gun ownership of any kind. they will not be able to completely ban them. America needs another great man like Regan. he was no where near perfect but he did his job well.
im saddend that VA went blue. i can only hope that in 2yrs we will be able to recitfy the situation when its time to elect a governer again, but i doubt it.

Massachusetts is pretty restrictive. It's pretty much how MT said it is. Instead of passing laws the Attorney General, at the time, made a bunch of safety laws that not only made the purchase of a firearm difficult but also using it for self-defense. In my neighborhood it's not a big issue. In some of the cities it can be. Things like requiring a trigger lock or locking a gun away when not on your person. So, legally, if you keep a pistol on your nightstand without a trigger lock at night you can have your guns confiscated. The threat to gun owners is REAL. If they can't pass laws to out and out ban them they will tax them to the point where your average person can't afford them. I hope all of you that say we're paranoid are right. I PRAY that you are right. But, I've seen what happens and it isn't pretty. They pass so-called safety laws, they ban certain items essential to your firearm, they take you to court if you defend your family and home. This is what happens when a party of liberals have the Senate, Congress, and Executive Branch. Mass. lets the Chiefs of Police in each town or city decide who is worthy to be able to own and carry a firearm. Where I live in a good sized town they are pretty good about it. When I lived in part of Boston it was a different story. You pretty much had to file a lawsuit against the police dept. in order to get one. I finally just moved out of there and out to the burbs where it isn't so much of a problem.

All these people that think he's going to take our guns and stuff. The President does not make all the decisions. There are about another 100 people that I have to agree with him to make stuff happen. Every time there is a new president people talk about how horrible it will be...then leave. If you don't like how our country is ran, pack your bags and go live in Mexico.</end quote></div>
I was thinking about moving to australia.</end quote></div>
