Bush did not "repeal" the "Assault Weapons Ban", there was a "Sunset clause" of ten years which ended in 2004 and after the Department of Justice Report showed no affect on crime, no one introduced a reauthorization bill which Bush said he would sign if it got to his desk.

In truth there has been an "Assault Weapon Ban" since the thirties as a true "Assault Weapon" is one with selective fire capabilities of full automatic or semi automatic. None of the weapons covered by the Clinton Ban had this capability as they were identical in operation to a regular sporting rifle such as my wife's 742 Deer Rifle or a Ruger Mini 14.

Obama has gone on record as supporting a federal law to prohibit CCW.

Do some research and don't try to tell me the Second amendment is not in danger from Obama.</end quote></div>

Trust me.... I'm part of a watchdog committee on the 2A so don't worry I've more then well versed....

And again look it up.... Obama support for prohibiting a CCW law was in Chicago, not nationally. He would not have the power to get that vote nationally....

51% of the registered Democrats do not believe gun laws limit crime, and more than 60% of the sitting senate and house Democrats support 2A with no changes.

Obama also voted against a bill that would confiscate guns during a national crisis. Go ask some people from Katrina about that one sometime.....

There is no way in heck Obama (even if he tried) would get the votes to make any real dent in the 2A. And any steps toward trying will bring the 70 million gun owners up to the front of the line.....

You guys worry all you want about the 2nd, it's not going anywhere. Every 4 years there is some big panic by all the people who's candidate didn't win. They always think all of our rights are gonna go away and we are gonna turn into a 3rd world country this and that. It is all hype.</end quote></div>

Exactly....... people have been yelling doom since Reagan....yes Reagan......

Believe it or not at the time, people thought Reagan was a rich Hollywood elitist who was going to lead us into Nuclear winter with the USSR. There were people who actually said he was going to want to be a cowboy in real life and start a war with Russia.......

Then everyone was scared "liberal" Bill Clinton was going to take away all our guns and make us into a socialist society....... again, the worst thing he did was get a BJ in the Oval Office...... beyond that the country prospered.....

Obama is going to toe the line... he's not going to urinate on the constitution and still expect to keep the Dems in office..... and it is only wishful Republican thinking that he will do something so stupid like try and mess with the 2nd Amendment.

Reagan put the fear of the United States back into all of those who opposed it.

Obama is willing to roll out a red carpet.

There is NO comparison between the two.

I would guess you're too young to remember what shape the country was in when Reagan took office and when he left.

Nobody is comparing the two people. He was comparing the panic of the public when they were elected.

Reagans ability to unite our nation and defeat the Nightmare known as the cold war and the soviet union is comparable to Kennedy's handling of the cuban missle crisis. He was a great man and is sorrowly missed.

The fact that you are on a watchdog group for the Second Amendment makes me feel all warm and cozy, but I am afraid yours and my interpretation of the Second amendment may differ as you seem to support the Clinton Law of 1994. And I did look it up.

Obama says, "National legislation will prevent other states' flawed concealed-weapons laws from threatening the safety of Illinois residents." David Mendell, "Democratic hopefuls vary a bit on death penalty," Chicago Tribune, February 20, 2004.

And I am supposed to feel good that you don't believe Obama can do it "even if he wants to"?

Given recent events, I am not overflowing with confidence in the American people's ability to judge much of anything and in spite of people's "Rambo" fiction; I do not see the 70 million gun owners rising up unfortunately. This has not happened in any other country in which strict gun controls have taken the firearms away from the citizenry.

In Mass, I have been told that if an intruder enters my house, if I shoot him, I will more than likely go to gail, not the perp. And go to jail for a LONG time.

I was told that my life has to be in "eminent danger" in order to use deadly force. And even then, you had better hire a good, expensive lawyer!

Also, I was told that I can not protect personal property (car, house, quad, bike, ect.) with deadly force. If I do, again I go to jail for a LONG time.

I was also told that if I shoot the guy that breaks into my home for whatever reason, and he lands outside the front door, I will go to jail......again for a LONG time.

You see, in Mass I believe that things are quite complicated when it comes to injuring the CRIMINAL.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
