whats the best airfilter to use
I just got a o6 kfx 400 and have already put a hmf pipe and header on it. Now I want to put a better air filter in my bike and im looking for some advice on what kind to get. So far I have looked at the K&N , Twin air and Mod Quad filters.
Another question i had also; is the K&N power lid worth the money and if I end up buying the power lid and a filter should I rejet the bike.
Any advise would be great
thanks

It is not all a matter of opinion as to type of filter at least. The oiled gauze type filters (K&N style) are best if you run in the sand. But they do not filter fine dust very well, they are also not the greastest for repelling water. Although an Outerwear will help some with water. A foam type filter will clog up really fast in sand and choke off air flow. Although again an Outerwear will help.
Dual stage Foam type filters are actually best for most riders because they filter fine debris much better than a gauze type. Your valves and piston ring will love you for using a foam type filter. They also repel water very well if oiled correctly, especially if an Outerwear type precharger is used. The cost in airflow reduction from foam to gauze types are super minimal.
In short...if you ride sand use a gauze filter preferably with an Outerwear. If you ride woods, trails, or desert (especially desert because silt beds will kill a gauze filter) Use a dual stage foam filter.
The power lid seems to make good sense to me. It seems like a better idea than running without a lid. There are also lid vents available for much less money.
Being a woods rider I chose the Pro Designs Pro-Flow dual stage foam filter with an Outerwear or at least the Pro Designs version of it for my 06' Raptor.

I have a K&N and it works great I wouldnt worry about the K&N lid because it doesnt really protect you from mud, water and sand and it also can cut down on your horses. If you want protection from that get an air filter skin, and also make shure you cover your air box when you wash you qaud.
