How Do You Use A Clutch?
#1
Hey, I have a Honda Foreman 450 S, and it has a automatic clutch, and I was thinking about getting a banshee or 400EX, but I don't know how to use a clutch, I know this sounds kinda stupid, but would some one help me out here?

you pull it in, give it gas and then let it out to start going, or jsut give it a lot and pop the clutch which is to jsut let it go. and when your riding, when the rpm's get high and your not going any fast, let out all the gas, pull in the clutch and shift. youll get the hang of it

The basics of clutch operation are this -
1. The clutch must be "slipped" in and out, "dumping" the clutch is hard on the machine
2. whenever you stop the driven tires you must disengage (pull) the clutch until the tires are moving again.
3. whenever shifting gears up or down you should use the clutch
4. whenever the driven tires are moved in reverse (rolling back down a hill, ect.) of normal operation you must use the clutch (unless it is in reverse gear)
To take off smoothly on a man. trans. bike, push the throttle in (throttle up) at approx. the same speed that you let the clutch out, this skill takes a bit to learn and is different on every bike.
Learning a clutch to the point of smoth operation is relativly easy, learning to use a clutch effieciently and effectivly can take years. If you plan on buying a banshee, you will learn real quick how to use a clutch, as they are a bike that you must use the clutch lots on. Hope this helps you out some!

the easyes thing would be is to take your freinds quad perfererably a yamaha and see how fast you can rav and let the clutch out and see how big of a wheelie you pull,
I did that when i rode my first clutch it was a 96 blaster and i did the meanest wheelie but i was just trying to pull out, i allmost soiled myself,
you are probobly gunna stale out alot until you get used to leting the clutch out easy and gently, then after a few weeks you should be ok since you allready know how to shift
