Hi I am new to Polaris and I think I have done something dumb. I went to pull the thermostat housing off and there was a cover next to it I removed...when I did the rod with kind of a half moon shaped thing and a very light spring slid out...I slid it back in and tried to put the cover back on and can't...it will not slid back in all the way...help

You pulled the cam detent device and spring out.Use the recoil and slowly turn the engine over while gently pushing in on the detent assy. The decompression ball on the cam has to be facing towards the bottom of the cam for the arm to slide all the way back in. The spring has to fit properly also or the engine won't run worth a flip. Look at the diagram(step 4) on inserting the rod and how the spring must go. If assembled correctly you can push up on the detent and it will spring back to the stop.

Just like you said. Replaced the ECM, and problems solved. I hope this one hangs in there a while. I'll never go to the dealer again. Waste of time and money.

Don't throw all dealers under the bus because of one bad experience. Some dealers and their techs out there actually know what they're doing. You just have to find a good one and hope they stay around awhile if you ever need them for anything you can't do yourself.

Default ECM connection 06 sportsman 500 ho atp

ECM on my 06 sportsman 500 ho atp has a burnt plug on bottom port. Anyone know if and what this is for and where I could order a new one. Having trouble with machine running when hot and going through everything. Installed new carburetor and still same problems. Also the wrench flashes when I first start up. And there is no gas level indicator on my screen as others do. Any advice i appreciate
