Congrats on your new Sp600!!

I am looking to switch my Scramblers over to an more utility vehicle as well. I am still deciding what to get. When you are able to put a few more miles on the 600 give us an update.

hey Shouldhaveboughtjapan,

I dont know if you or your mechanic have tried this yet but I thought it might help. This is from a guy on the PA ATVING forum:

If you have a 600-700 and you have a cold start problem, backfires, vibration or generally runs rough try this. First go get yourself a set of new champion spark plugs. Then take the cap off the top off your carb and pull the slide out. Take the needle out of the slide and move the clip down one notch. this will raise the needle thus richening the mix. next find your air screw on the bottom of the carb. It will be covered by a brass plug. remove the plug and turn your air screw in clockwise until it stops noting how many turns. most likely it will be 1 turn. then turn the air screw out 2-1/2 turns. Now if your really crafty you can do this by just removing the seat and loosening the carb clamps and spining the carb where you need it to be. you dont even have to fully remove the carb or the the fuel tank at all. not even the choke or throttle cables. This is something I think all 600-700s could benefit from. gains bottom end power and GREAT throttle response. Not to mention no more backfires, miserable cold starts, vibration, or plug fouling. Even if you think yours runs great add a k+n filter and this carb adjustment becomes almost nessesary.
