Look on the left side of the front light pod. Is this what you are looking for? Congradulations on your new bike. I have the same one, color too. Just love it! Not very many grease fittings. I can only find 2 balljoint ones so far. My front rack vibrates a bit too. Hope I can tighten it up a bit. Otherwise bike is sweet.

Hi yardmaster, the old one had a push in 12 volt power supply under the LH rear guard and it came with a plug that you could wire onto anything so that it could plug into it. I kept the front rack extender off my old bike but it won't quite fit on the new one. The holes line up as there are 2 sets but the large headlight surround stops it from fitting down on the front. I either have to cut the plastic out, bend the rack extender or cut a section out of the rack extender so it doesn't go as far forward. I will price a new extender tomorrow and then decide. Both bike have a cig socket on the headlight also. Best wishes Scott

I just bought a 04 1/2 400 and I don't find much of a difference between Low and High gear, and I seem to lose high end power going up hills. Anyone else have this problem or know what this may be?

I have the same machine as you. It is awesome. I notice quite a difference in low and high. Low revs higher but only crawls along. I put it in low anytime I go up steep hills or really rough terrain. I read somewhere that there is a 160 degree difference in low to high. So it saves your belt and keeps your clutches signifigantly cooler running in low when on slower rough terrain. If there is no difference in the two, there may be a problem. Mine performs like a tank in low because it will just about go over anything. In high it tends to spin out where as low it just grabs and goes.

You should see a Large difference from High to low.. High should need some rpms tog et moving, low, just the weight of your thumb and you should be off. Especially in tight terrain, or up against a fallen log or stump.
You need to clarify loosing power to me, do you mean loosing speed?
Because it is a heavy machine and it will loose speed on long steep uphills, BUT the RPMS should remain fairly constant as the clutch backshifts.
If you are indeed loosing power, engine booging down, etc.. You clutch may not be backshifting properly. May have it jetted wrong for your area (elevation).

You maybe right about the jetting. I bought the sp400 in New Hampsire (Mountains) and I live in Rhode Island. I didn't think that would make a big difference. I hope I haven't damaged the engine or clutch driving it at the wrong jet setting. A friend drove it up a hill and I heard the engine go from high rpm to lower rpm while climbing the hill with the throttle almost at full. After, he drove up with his Big Bear and you could hear the engine still giving the same power all the way up. I am bringing it to the Rhode Island dealer on thursday so I will mention that I purchased it in New Hampshire. Hopefully that is the problem. Then hopefully I can smoke my friends Big Bear. Last week he got stuck while my sp400 drove right by him.
